addedBoss Rush ModeYou can now switch game mode to Boss Rush, even in the journal. This mode starts you off in chapter 3 immediately, gives you a dozen lacrima, upgraded cards, and a map full of boss fights.
changedVoice of DeathDeath finally has a voice now, spoken by the one and only Patrick Lamb . This includes all 31 cutscenes in the journal, as well as a handful of lines throughout the runs. Thanks to my friend TaskBeenden (LADDWICK) who processed & mastered all recordings and split them up into hundreds of sound files. You can also check out the behind-the-scenes video .
changedCard Mastery ArtWhen you master any of the six decks by winning a run with five atonements, you will now unlock new card back art, drawn by Lyfeu .

Here's an overview of what this update contains:

New Bosses

There are 18 new bosses to fight, all with unique lacrima and art by Vergvoktre. You'll encounter them randomly throughout your runs.

Boss Rush Mode

You can now switch game mode to Boss Rush, even in the journal. This mode starts you off in chapter 3 immediately, gives you a dozen lacrima, upgraded cards, and a map full of boss fights.

Voice of Death

Death finally has a voice now, spoken by the one and only Patrick Lamb. This includes all 31 cutscenes in the journal, as well as a handful of lines throughout the runs. Card Mastery Art

When you master any of the six decks by winning a run with five atonements, you will now unlock new card back art, drawn by Lyfeu.

New Journal Layout

As part of the mastery art change, the journal has received a new layout, where you can see a hint of the currently selected deck on the left side.

New VFX

There are new visual effects by Jack the Generalist, for example, the blessings are glowing now. More to come in the next few weeks!

Secondary Trigger Effects

All trigger lacrima have additional effects on creature stats, for example "First Blood" also increases HP by 25%.

Quality of Life

Among other fixes, there are a host of QoL changes as well, including:

  • You can now cycle through creatures on a stack by simply clicking twice on a creature.

  • Gambler: Opposing cards with different dice have all their stats halved.

  • Improvements to readability (larger font size).

  • Right-clicking on a card now opens the card in a big closeup view.

  • Reduced requirements to unlock deities.

  • Endless runs now have additional boss fights the higher you climb.

The full list of changes will be posted when the update goes live on the main branch end of June!

Beta is available now!

▶ Right-click on the game in your library, click Properties > Game Versions & Betas, set the branch to "beta" and restart Steam. You should now be able to play the new version (1.0.9).

⚠ Note: Please only check out the branch of you decide to stick with it! Some new statistics will be gone after you switch back and the savegames might not work in the older version.
