Faith in Despair changes
Before we get to the details, here's an important announcement:
😈 Faith in Despair will launch on November 12th 2025 😈
With that out of the way, this updated introduces angels to shops, adds lacrima packs at the beginning of a run, and fixes various issues in preparation for the upcoming Steam Next Fest.
Additions
Added 20 Angels which will sometimes appear in shops (thanks CygRyu for the idea, angel art by Lyfeu will be added later)
Added 10 more creature images (by vil )
Added 9 new spell images
Added 6 new backgrounds
Added Simplified Chinese (thanks Horace)
Added Japanese (thanks Toyoch)
Added third option to Rest, which Death will sometimes offer to you
Added lacrima pack animation
Added new modifier "Goldrush": Increase ATK by total gold you gained this round
Added "Locked" symbol to Defender and Broken Spell
Added tip to show that you can redraw your starting hand
Added deck description, deck name and atonements to journal day info
Added "ESC to skip" hint for cutscenes
Added toggle inventory button to shop (like in Altar of Tears)
Added featured artist names to title screen
Added Somos easter egg to final credits (not available in demo)
Gameplay Adjustments
You now always get a free lacrima pack at the beginning of a run (thanks Stuffedwombat)
All %-based lacrima are now on "cooldown" until next round once they successfully activate
Parasite: Start value is 20% of target's maxHP
Removed "Creature shifted" from player card pool and lacrima rewards
Removed Ambush from Favor
Removed skip button from lacrima rewards
Change rarity of Ambush to ultrarare
Adjusted several atonements in journal
Discard Card is no longer combined with "TargetAll*" on randomly generated enemies (thanks Glaziola)
Enemies no longer can spawn with Attack triggers + Ambush
Cards can now get further upgraded in endless (just without new slots) (thanks Glaziola)
Nerfed blessing "Denizen" a tiny bit
Cooldown on Blessings and Curses is now always reset when starting a new fight
UI/UX Adjustments
Atonements are now displayed as icons on the HUD (thanks Auri)
Lacrima value in Altar of Tears is now shown for all lacrima that don't show their value next to the name (thanks Auri)
Study: Now shows an icon when a card can't be upgraded
- RestAdded preview for fractured + exiled cards (and other card options)
Moved confirm button below cards and lacrima
Removed Gain Faith + Gain Lacrima from "Collection" > "Lacrima"
Run creator: Made it impossible to deselect a journal day
Run creator: Latest journal day is now always active by default (or previously selected day)
Improved description for Flip and Charmed
Journal: Don't show details of undiscovered days
Altar of Tears: Allow square/space to open inventory and go back to altar
Improve controller/keyboard UX in various areas
Dragging a lacrima far away, then putting it back, now deselects it
Lane enemy indicators are now removed upon gameover
Reduced intensity of Despair effect on screen
Updated controller/mouse/keyboard icons to have the same style as the rest of the game
You can now click on blessings and curses while shopping (although they don't return you back to the shop yet 😅)
Fractured lacrima are now written in gray instead of using strikethrough (thanks Auri)
Fixes
Fixed issue where graveyard was emptied when playing Gravedigger and continuing a run
Fixed sacrificing spells triggering "Creature Sacrificed" (thanks good Anonymous feedback submitter)
Fixed poison damage (and other status effect damage) not triggering Damage Taken
Fixed Defender being able to be cleared with middle-mouse click
Fixed run history not working on mac/linux/mobile
Fixed flipped cards still being triggered for "Card Played" triggers
Fixed Flip triggering "Damage Taken"
Fixed card events overlapping with card status descriptions
Fixed enemies always getting a new buff with atonement A10
