Elevation

The map we’re using is an evolved version of what we used in “Kamiko”. Some assets are created by directly improving on what was used in “Kamiko” so some of you may recognize them, or find some areas familiar.

changedThe time we had to develop “Kamiko” was relatively short, so there was a lot we couldn’t do. Elevation was one aspect we couldn’t implement. In “Kamiko” you could attack enemies on top of buildings from the ground, but this time, “height” is a factor so you cannot interfere with objects that are not on the same level. Here is a picture using “Kamiko” graphics showing how the map physics have changed.

▲The arrow released by the player will hit the side of the building instead of the enemy on the roof.

The elevation physics were implemented not just to create an accurate hitbox, but also to prevent puzzles and gimmicks from being accessed from different levels. In other words, it might be possible to access them even if there is a little distance as long as they are on the same level as the player… but that’s all we’re giving away for now.

Still, puzzles using elevation aren’t necessarily compatible with 2D top view games, so we’ve used them in moderation.
