changedSince the event was local for two of us, only Zed had to fly in for the occasion—but he was happy to do so, to unite the whole Spiritus Games team for the event.
changedMeeting the CommunityThroughout the day, we exhibited Fabular for the public to try out. We had tons of gamers and developers swing by to chat about the game and give it a run or two. It was especially great meeting many budding game devs who came seeking advice or wanting to show off their own cool projects. We also got to reconnect with a lot of old friends from our game development pasts, which is always nice!

We wanted to share an update on something a little different this time! We recently got to attend and exhibit Fabular at Budapest GameDevDay 2025. This conference brings together developers, creators, and enthusiasts from the Central European gaming scene for a day of talks, networking, and demos.

Meeting the Community

The conference was primarily aimed at the game developer community, but there was a wide range of attendees, including passionate gamers. It was a genuinely fun experience and a huge morale booster for the whole team.

Art Direction Talk

We were proud to have Peter, our Art Director, step up (or in his case, sit down 😉) as a speaker! He delivered a talk titled"Art Direction and World-building in Fabular", focusing on art direction for indie-games, using the unique world of Fabular as a primary case study.

While Peter is more of a theoretician and wrestled with the tech setup a bit (we all know those conference shenanigans), his talk was ultimately engaging, funny and well received by the audience.

The Best Feedback

It’s always such a treat to see people play your game from up-close! Watching players—both developers and gamers—experience Fabular firsthand is the best, most immediate feedback you can get. Being able to pick their brains right there on the spot about what mechanics they liked, or where they struggled, is invaluable for our ongoing development.

Overall, it was a fantastic day connecting with the community and gathering fresh insights. Thanks to everyone who stopped by!
