Closing the prologue!

Hi everyone, I'm writing this to let you know that I've decided to shut down the EvilTrap Prologue and remove it from Steam.

Hi everyone,

I'm writing this to let you know that I've decided to shut down the EvilTrap Prologue and remove it from Steam.

My original goal with this free release was to give you a taste of the game's atmosphere and hopefully build up some wishlists for the full launch. Unfortunately, things didn't quite go as planned.

Because the prologue is free and visually appealing, it attracted tens of thousands of "collectors." These are mostly accounts that just want to add a +1 to their Steam libraries without ever actually booting up the game or providing any feedback.

As for the players who did take the time to play it, about 70% enjoyed the experience and left exactly the kind of constructive feedback I needed. However, the remaining 30% left incredibly harsh reviews, treating this free indie prologue like a botched release from a massive AAA studio.

The unconstructive negativity is growing, and since it isn't helping with wishlists or the actual development of the game, I've realized it no longer makes sense to split my time and energy maintaining this prologue.

EvilTrap is in active development and will be launching in Early Access soon. Instead of pushing another update for this demo, I'm shifting 100% of my focus to the full game, a project I'll be dedicating myself to for years to come, as it has so much room to grow.

EvilTrap

I want to give a huge thank you to everyone who supported the prologue and provided genuine feedback. I hope to see you in the full version of EvilTrap when it launches!

Take care,

Jeff
