Greetings to all the survivors of EvilTrap!

Today is an important day. After releasing the Prologue, your incredible feedback gave me a clear picture of the direction we need to take for the full game.

While the core reception was great, it became clear that our biggest hurdle was Optimization. Developing in Unreal Engine 5 brought heavy processing demands that heavily impacted the performance and smoothness for many players, a challenge that many indie devs migrating to UE5 are currently facing.

Faced with this, I had to make a crucial choice: keep "next-gen" features that limit who can actually play the game, or roll up my sleeves, extract the absolute best out of Unreal Engine 4, and deliver a polished experience that runs flawlessly for everyone.

I chose the players. I made the decision to migrate the entire game, including the full version, back to Unreal Engine 4.

This was a massive, time-consuming undertaking. Since UE5 assets cannot be directly reverse-migrated, everything had to be rebuilt from scratch.

But here is the fantastic news: The game still looks absolutely stunning, and the FPS gain is massive. This coming June, a major update will completely replace the current version so you can experience EvilTrap: Prologue at its absolute best. Steam post image

What’s coming in this 2.0 Update:

  • Massive Performance Boost: High, stable FPS for a much wider range of PCs.

  • Enhanced Level Design: Tweaks to the environment to improve atmosphere and flow.

  • Brand New Scares: Fresh terrifying moments to keep you on your toes.

  • Complete Settings Menu: Full customization options to tailor your graphics and controls.

Following this patch, it’s full steam ahead on the development of the full version, which is on track to be released this September!

I hope you are as excited about this new chapter as I am. Thank you all for your immense support!
