Erosion - Developer Walkthrough

First of all, thanks for checking out our new game! We were so happy to finally reveal it to all of you and the reception has been amazing.

You may wondering how our game can be so many clever gaming buzzwords: "roguelike", "open world", "time-loop" and "choices matter". Well have no fear, we have some explainin' to do! You can watch this dev walkthrough video that shows one small example where dungeons, open world, timelines and choices all intertwine.

In EROSION, each death costs a decade. You’ll take on dystopian dungeons in the depths and a spaghetti western overworld but while most roguelikes bring you back to the beginning when you die, each attempt moves time forward and the world above erodes with it. Can you save your daughter before she grows old and passes away?

Erosion blends a dungeon crawling roguelike with an open world where your choices matter.

Each life, you’ll choose to take another run at a procedural dungeon, or explore the handcrafted wild west overworld. Whether it’s dying to the monsters in the dungeons or to angry poker players, death will make time move forward.

The landscape will erode and your choices will impact the fate of the overworld. Did you help the villagers or the chicken cultists? Did you fight off the hovercraft raiders or the submarine zombies?

But it’s not just the world that ages, your kidnapped daughter gets older, too. If you make it to the end of a dungeon run, you’ll find that she has grown up. And if you’ve died too many times, she might be an old woman, or not alive at all.

And of course, succeeding in the dungeon or the overworld, both make you stronger in the other. Exploring both of them will unlock the ability to travel backwards in time. Then you can undo your previous choices, follow different branching paths, and ultimately, save your daughter and the world from their eroding timelines.
