Dev Chat: 4th Region Preview

Hey everyone! As mentioned last time, I’m currently working on the 4th region. The development has been quite smooth (except I scrapped a main mechanic that took me 2 weeks to make and start over...), but it feels weird…

addedThe next patch will introduce the 4th region, which includes several new mechanics, enemies, a boss fight, and a new flame you’ll unlock after clearing it. Right now, I’m aiming to finish it by the end of February. But since the new mechanic is a bit more complex this time, I’ll release it on the beta branch for a few days first to test things out. If everything goes smoothly, I’ll roll out the official update!
addedAs for the new mechanics in the 4th region... (If you don’t want spoilers, you might want to stop reading here!)

As mentioned last time, I’m currently working on the 4th region. The development has been quite smooth (except I scrapped a main mechanic that took me 2 weeks to make and start over...), but it feels weird not posting anything for this long. So here’s a quick dev update to show what you can expect in the next patch!

(Honestly, I think it’s more fun to go in blind, but if you really want to know...)

After passing through the gate guarded by the Skeleton King, you’ll enter an abandoned ancient city.

This was once a flourishing underground city, filled with technological wonders and countless robots that supported the lives of its residents. But when the corruption spread, it was sealed away, leaving its ancient machines abandoned in the darkness.

Throughout the adventure, you’ll come across various mechanical devices and structures left behind, but most of them won’t work due to a lack of power.

That’s where your blocks come in!

By using blocks to connect power to these devices, you can gain more resources or unlock defensive advantages. Will you prioritize building the maze, or use blocks to activate more devices? Or maybe you can figure out a way to do both?

The new levels gives you a lot more freedom to get creative with your strategies. (Which is why designing it took forever... My brain hurts. 🫠)

The ancient city is also filled with defensive turrets.

Even though they’ve been dormant for years, they’ll still attempt to reactivate when you get too close, interfering with your turrets.

You can destroy them before they turn on or try to stay out of their attack range.

Or…there might be certain devices in the stage that can deal with them for you!?

Overall, aside from the tower defense aspect, the 4th region features plenty of puzzle-like elements that require more careful planning.

I’ll do my best to finish the remaining stages and boss fight as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience and support, I really appreciate it!
