Embers Adrift changes
This month's patch is a bit lighter as our efforts have been focused on two separate water related activities. However, we were able to sneak in some updates along with a new challenge.
Updates
Adjusted LODs for rocks in Grizzled Peaks & Ibaxus.
Added Arrows & Bolt projectiles for auto attack only. Enabling these for abilities is a bit more complex and may come at a later date.
Added an Ember Ring to Redshore Island. It will show on the map with a down arrow to indicate that it is way off the map.
Fixes
Additional Skybox fixes for macOS.
Fixed some rocks and wooden elements missing wetness and snow materials.
Fixed a stuck spot in Grimstone Canyon
Fixed item links not working for items with a comma in their name.
Fixed the "you do not have that task!" bug that is frequently encountered in Northreach.
Fixed incorrect text on the gate in Cragscale Manor.
Fixed a spelling error in a Consortium lore doc in the city.
Fixed a bug that allowed players to acquire two unique items if they win two loot rolls.
New Challenge
Have you ever wanted to fight the large Mire within Forgotten Depths? Now you can! While clearing the zone you are likely to find a key to the cage. Gather your friends for a splitting good time!
NOTE that the current prep time for this challenge is erroneously set at 30 seconds. We should have this fixed (60s) next week.
Upcoming Changes
Redshore Bluffs
We had intended to include a new challenge on Redshore's island, but some last minute issues came up that we didn't have time to resolve before the patch. To avoid any issues we're punting this one until June's patch. Note that the bluffs themselves have been partitioned off until the challenge is ready.
Gathering Banks?
We fully recognize that inventory management has always been a sticking point for Embers Adrift, especially at higher levels with multiple tiers of materials. We are cooking up some long term solutions but those require a significant reworking of the system.
As a stop-gap solution we are looking to add a gathering bank to the city that would function similar to your gathering bag in the field (restrictions on items that can be placed inside). In addition, we will be re-evaluating the rules for what can go in your gathering bag/bank and potentially loosening those a bit.
Finally, we are exploring the possibility of allowing you to craft in the city using materials from the new gathering bank. We make no promises yet, but are hopeful we can get this working for you all.
Guild Banks
While I was streaming the creation of the Guild Bank, I have found that it slows me down considerably and is not something I can continue doing if I ever want to the feature to be completed. My goal is to wrap this up and get it on QA sooner than later for testing.
Water Based Activities
Development continues on two water based activities that we hope to bring to you soon. I don't expect this to land in June, but know that we are working on it!
