Eden Rising changes
Equipment Unlock Update
Probably one of our biggest feature updates yet! This is a very important change to how equipment is unlocked in Eden Rising. Essentially, the equipment (armor, gloves, and weapons) is now tied to your character. This means:
Equipment is now an unlock on your character. Once you unlock a weapon upgrade you have it forever on that character! Unlock the entire tree!
Equipment still costs resources to unlock, and some equipment types must be unlocked by completing outposts in the world.
Equipment unlocks are now in your menu screens (since they are tied to character progression), and Crucible tech is now accessed at the camp with the in-world station.
Why did we do this?
In short, it’s so you can take your equipment with you to other servers!
But you can’t take your inventory. We will implement a partial-spend feature in the near future, so when you visit other servers you can invest in your gear before leaving. Will I still have the weapons/gear/etc that I’ve already crafted?
Yes! When you log in after the update, any gear crafted on that server, by anyone, will be automatically granted to your character. But we are temporarily disabling equipment dyes and extra glove functionalities.
This is a big feature update in preparation for better multiplayer options!
HUD Revamp
We’ve also updated the HUD and basic controls of the game! This is important because it helps us prepare for controller support (which is coming along, but still in progress). We’ve streamlined the controls for combat. Here’s a quick rundown of the controls now:
There will no longer be quickslots! By this, we mean the 1-2-3-4 bar at the bottom of the screen. There are now only 2 distinct modes: combat and building defenses.
Combat mode is the default, and all your regular attack controls are the same! The biggest change here is that consumables are now on a hotkey and so is your glove! We think this makes for a better, slicker combat experience.
Press a button to switch to build mode to place turrets and traps. These will now be directly in front of you for placement instead of moving around with the camera -- a necessary change for getting ready for controllers!
You can still quick-swap weapons. :)
This is a big update for us, and it’s a lot of preparatory work that will really improve the game experience. We hope you enjoy it! As always, we can’t wait to hear what you think! — Website Discord Official Facebook Page Official Twitter Page Instagram Youtube Channel
