It’s been a hot minute, but we’re delighted to finally be able to announce that we have a new demo update!

Management wanted me to make a whole mystery about it, but who has time for that? Not me, I’m overworked.

So let’s talk about the “Mortician Demo Update”!

Mortician Demo Update

If you’re up to date with our latest announcements, these will be of no surprise for you, so feel free to just skip ahead in the post to find this update’s Changelog . But if you’re not aware of our previous sneak-peaks, here are some key changes to this version:

Updated Features

Character Selection

Previously you had to actually TALK to your coworkers to change into their clothes and work as them. But aside from the fact you’d be changing clothes in the middle of the office, honestly: who actually wants to talk with their colleagues every single time? Not this skeleton. Now we have an actual locker room dedicated to giving you the privacy you need while selecting whichever collaborator you want to pretend to be that time and directly go to work on the field. And you can even compare stats to boost, no more blind picks!

Boon Selection

One of the best perks of working here is the wide array of boons to our collaborators on the field, we know this and so do you. But we noticed that some living souls didn’t 100% understand all the differences in importance and types (yeah, management hears your feedback, just not mine), so it was all revamped to help even the newest of interns to comprehend it all!

New Mechanics

Status Effects

Even though Warrior loves focusing only on pure damage, we know that killing collecting human souls sometimes asks for a more refined approach… like poison. So now some Boons will help you by adding a probability that your damage can also apply Poison, Burning or a Curse (which lowers the enemy’s defense temporarily) to all the living souls!

PS: Rogue told me that our R&D department has a lot more on this feature in the works, and that only an initial version of it was released, so you can expect a more in-depth status effects system soon (I guess)!

Updated Visuals

Level Up

Leveling up has never been this satisfying! There’s a whole new VFX to properly indicate when you level up, as well as to make it clear how it is that the enemies were being pushed back whenever it happened.

Unstable Phylactery / Revive

Yes, this artifact is incredible. And yes, we know you couldn’t tell when it activated because there was no visual indicator. Now whenever you are killed start an overtime shift you can clearly see it activating, getting you back to work and wiping the screen off of enemies.

New Boons

You know what? I’m not gonna spoon-feed this part with my slick note-taking skills, you can check out the changelog at the end of this post if you want to read about all the new Boons!

And I assure you that they will greatly aid you during your runs. Especially that aura stuff…

Anyway...

As of this post, it is now Friday the 13th of this month! We were told this date holds some significance for you living souls when talking about the undead and overall horrors, so we thought it a perfect date to release our new update!

Yes, the update is live right now! So get to work! And don’t worry, if you have any problems, doubts, suggestions or just want to chat with us, we will be online and ready to help you with some “live” customer-support on our Discord server, which you can join through the demo’s main menu now as well.

We’re already dead enough ourselves, so our marketing team said it was good for the company if our Discord was more “alive”, or whatever that means. So we’re being forced to gladly working on it!

And that’s it for this news-update. Thank you so much for your overwhelming support and understanding! We will by happily waiting for all of you on our Demonstration Day (not like we have a choice). See you soon!

E-Lich Corp - "We value your life. And death. Seriously."

Changelog

New Talents

  • Dash Invulnerability • Makes you invulnerable while dashing!

Changes

  • Added a Character Selection Screen and improved the process of starting a new run • Due to this, you can no longer change to an NPC's outfit in the lobby by speaking with them, nor can you start a run by speaking with the NPC beside the elevator

  • Reworked and improved the Boon Selection Screen

  • Slightly reworked the Dialogue Box UI to improve readability and avoid confusion with the Skip button

  • Made many small visual changes to the Lobby

  • The Janitor is back at work! He's still not very friendly or talkative, but he can be found in the Lobby

  • Added a VFX for when the player revives

  • Reworked and improved the VFX that plays when you level up

  • Many balancing changes to boons, spells, weapons and enemies

  • The Reaper's Scythe artifact now has a cap for its damage increase • It now also increases your HP based on how many enemies you kill after you pick this artifact

  • Added new icon art for boons and artifacts that still had either placeholder or duplicate art

  • Reworked the game's fonts

  • Changed the size of many text boxes across all screens to improve readability and avoid huge differences between text sizes (especially when changing languages)

  • Added a "Join our Discord!" button and a "Wishlist Now!" button to the Main Menu

Fixes

  • Fixed some instances where dialogue would skip multiple lines without pressing the Skip button

  • Fixed the Lock Camera option in the settings menu

  • Fixed the Intern not blinking during dialogue (probably happened due to coffee overload)

  • Fixed some objects being out of position or overlapping others in the lobby

  • Fixed the Area Size stat not being displayed in the Stats Screen

  • Fixed Blizzard spell not levelling up to Level 8 like most spells

  • Fixed Rogue's Dash Cooldown being much quicker than everyone else's

  • Fixed the main weapons not updating their stats until being leveled up again

  • Fixed some issues with the controller support

  • Fixed many localization issues for the PT-BR language version

  • Fixed several font-related issues for texts on the PT-BR language version

  • Fixed some screens and texts not being translated

  • Fixed several bugs on the Talent Screen

  • Dozens of other bug fixes

Known Issues

  • Clicking on a dialogue to make the text be revealed all at once can sometimes advance to the next dialogue instead of waiting to display the current one's full text. We're working on a fix as we speak (type?)!

  • The boss can sometimes move awkwardly after using his jump attack. Good for you, bad for balancing, I suppose... Working on a fix!

  • Some UI elements have missing SFXs or are mistakenly using SFXs from other UI elements. Also working on it!
