addedWhen you try the new limited version, you'll see for yourself that since the previous playtest, we have been hard at work improving, reworking, and expanding many of the systems that make up the DREADMOOR experience.
addedWhat Have We Changed?Fishing has received major improvements, including an updated UI, improved mechanics, better predator bite behaviour, and the option to choose between mouse or keyboard controls. Crafting has also been updated with new recipes and improved crafting table visuals and UI.
addedWhat Have We Changed? The world itself has been improved too, with updated level design, better placement of water loot and fish schools, improved visuals, new animations, new cutscenes, a reworked questline, improved tutorials, and an updated dialogue system.
addedWhat Have We Changed?A full day and night cycle has now been added, along with a sleep mechanic. Players can rest at the trader’s pier to skip time, but travelling at night is extremely dangerous. Once darkness settles over the water, tentacles become active and can attack your ship. If your ship is destroyed, you will be towed to the nearest dock, but the contents of your cargo hold will be lost.
addedWhat Have We Changed? We are also introducing several new systems, including radio tuning, lockpicking, recipe learning through the Mastery tab, environmental water-flow puzzles, and generator refueling and startup mechanics.

What Have We Changed?

For those of you who took part in our limited playtest back in January but have not joined any of our smaller focus tests, this version of DREADMOOR will feel very different - still the same game, but much bigger, and much better!

Since the first playtest, we have been hard at work improving, reworking, and expanding many of the systems and mechanics that shape DREADMOOR. Some of those changes will be noticeable right away, while others will be discovered more gradually, as you fish, explore, craft, follow the questline, and travel across the murky waters.

Fishing has received major improvements, including an updated UI, improved mechanics, better predator bite behaviour, and the option to choose between mouse or keyboard controls. Crafting has also been updated with new recipes and improved crafting table visuals and UI.

The world itself has been improved too, with updated level design, better placement of water loot and fish schools, improved visuals, new animations, new cutscenes, a reworked questline, improved tutorials, and an updated dialogue system.

But perhaps the biggest change is what happens after dark.

A full day and night cycle has now been added, along with a sleep mechanic. Players can rest at the trader’s pier to skip time, but travelling at night is extremely dangerous. Once darkness settles over the water, tentacles become active and can attack your ship. If your ship is destroyed, you will be towed to the nearest dock, but the contents of your cargo hold will be lost.

We are also introducing several new systems, including radio tuning, lockpicking, recipe learning through the Mastery tab, environmental water-flow puzzles, and generator refueling and startup mechanics.

The Exclusive Limited Fan Preview Begins During Steam Ocean Fest

DREADMOOR is still in development, and this preview is another important step for us. Every test helps us understand what works, what needs more time, and what should be pushed further.

So, whether you are returning to the Submerged Land or visiting it for the first time, we’d love to have you join us during Steam Ocean Fest.

While playing DREADMOOR, if you come across any bugs, please report them via this link: https://forms.gle/gyvkfuyWS1uFusNx8

Prepare your trawler, keep your eyes on the water, and be careful after dark.
