Secrets and Balance Update (v111)
Notice: old saves will not work with this update. If you want to keep playing an existing save, switch to the Steam branch `previous-version` before loading it.
This update focuses on a major secret room overhaul, broad mid and late game balance changes, door and lock difficulty reductions, resistance and weapon skill tuning, and many smaller fixes and economy tweaks.
Secret Rooms Overhaul
Reworked secret room generation so hidden areas are more deliberate and varied.
Improved how secret doors are noticed, making discovery less dependent on repeated passive luck.
Added more kinds of small hidden spaces and improved secret room reward placement.
Prevented enemies from randomly appearing inside secret areas.
Mid and Late Game Balance
Adjusted boss, quest, chest, and secret rewards to reduce stacked high-value payouts.
Retuned generated magic gear so higher-level item bonuses appear on a smoother curve.
Rebalanced monster loot so equipment drops are less concentrated.
Adjusted monster durability scaling for later areas.
Trimmed several defensive item outliers.
Combat and Character Tuning
Softened resistance damage scaling so partial resistance is less extreme.
Removed an overly sharp vulnerability damage spike.
Retuned weapon skill practice, rank costs, and defensive bonuses.
Rebalanced shields around clearer ATK penalties and DEF tradeoffs.
Improved monster summaries for important weaknesses.
Economy, Items, and Exploration
Reduced door and lock difficulty, including lower chest lockpick difficulty.
Adjusted merchant buy and sell values, especially for generated magic items.
Repriced spell scrolls, wands, and several high-impact utility potions.
Improved some special gear rewards.
Adjusted carry, pouch, junk, corpse, ammunition, and tool durability balance.
Fixes and Polish
Fixed several quest and shop dialogue flow issues.
Fixed several spell targeting cases that could avoid spending a cast.
Fixed some healing and damage interaction edge cases.
Fixed auto-explore and resting interruptions around hostile actions and fixtures.
Fixed several world, terrain, glyph, and display issues.
Improved character sheet resistance details.
Cleaned up several localization and text issues.
Game version is now v111.
