Play Dorfromantik on Mac

Dorfromantik is now available natively on Mac. Nice and easy, right here on Steam. If you already own Dorfromantik, just log into your Steam account on your iMac or MacBook, and start playing.

First of all, a warm welcome to all players who are joining us through the Mac release. It’s wonderful to have you in the Dorfromantik community! Here on Steam, as well as on Discord, everyone is happy to help each other out. We from our indie team are around, and there are surely plenty of lovely people who have been playing for a while. So if you have any questions as you get started, don’t hesitate to ask. 💚

And then, of course, a big shoutout to everyone who has stuck with Dorfromantik since the very beginning. Ever since 2021, you’ve been asking us for a Mac version. Some of you may still remember: Way, way, waaaaaay back at the very beginning, we actually had a Mac version on itch.io, but it didn’t meet our own quality standards. So for the main development of the game, we initially decided to leave Mac aside and release Dorfromantik on Windows first.

A lot has happened since then. Dorfromantik made its way to Nintendo Switch, Xbox and PlayStation, and even onto living room tables as a board game. Meanwhile, your Mac requests kept coming in. And we promise: we didn’t miss a single one of your +1s.

The development of our new game Star Birds gave us room to learn, test, and gain confidence. And now we finally feel ready to send Dorfromantik’s Mac version out into the world.

Dorfromantik is now available for iMacs and MacBooks with Apple Silicon (M1 2020 and newer), so you can place tiles, create peaceful landscapes, chase new high scores, and enjoy Dorfromantik natively on your Mac.

As a small indie developer, you always have to be somewhat self-taught. And we can’t claim that any of us had ever ported a game to Mac before. But we learn with every project and we truly appreciate that you continue to accompany us through the growth and development of our small but lovely studio. Thank you for sticking with us and for being part of this journey.

Of course, we haven’t forgotten about mobile.

Now that we’ve learned Mac, it’s time to learn mobile. ✌️

We’ve continued working on the mobile version of Dorfromantik in parallel with the Mac port. Over the past few weeks, we finished the in-game menus and tutorial levels. Next up, we’ll start several rounds of testing to see what already feels smooth and what still needs more work.

We don’t want to announce a fixed mobile release date just yet. Since this is our first mobile game as a studio, we’re taking things step by step and making sure the quality is where we want it to be.

But we’re actively working on it every week, and mobile is on a good path.
