Phase 2 Demo Now Available
We’re excited to announce the second version of the dev_hell demo is live! This update brings major upgrades to all game systems as well as many new hours of content. Phase 2 will generate more than enough content for multiple runs, but even more replay-ability is on the way! Leading up to the release, we’ll be continuing to add even more content to provide players trying out our demo with the fullest experience of the game so far.
SPRINT 1 + 2
After completing the tutorial, subsequent runs will kickoff Phase 1 of Sprint 1. After successfully finishing the first sprint, you will unlock Sprint 2, which will feature two entirely new encounter types: Collaboration + Launch. In the full game, every sprint will evolve over time as you delve further and further down the rabbit hole.
COMPANY SWAG
New items have been introduced that can dramatically change the way you play and create a variety of interesting and powerful combos. There are 25 total items in the demo with many, many more planned! The first sprint will start off with a choice of company swag so that every run can start in a unique way!
CLEARER ROUTING PREVIEWS
Over the course of our playtesting so far, we've received a lot of feedback on better ways to indicate whether cards are about to output or not. Routes are now displayed in a more intuitive way, utilizing both colors and active connections to help convey the exact interactions each card will make on the board.
NEW ENCOUNTERS
Launch your first app or die trying! The final encounter of Sprint 2 will require you to see your work through to the end, or else… Will the app’s release manage to go off without a hitch? The pressure is on! To ensure maximum efficiency, there is also an opportunity to collaborate with your coworkers to create synergies during launch based on your current relations. As we all know, building up social credit with your colleagues is an essential part of the job!
FULLY-STOCKED COMPANY STORE
All items are now available in the store. In addition to the 3 snack slots that were previously available, the store will now also carry random company swag, a random card mod and a rare card mod. Some of these items can be very expensive so you’ll have to make sure you’re saving up your kudos!
TUTORIAL OVERHAULS
Thanks to the people who have provided feedback and continued to test with us, we've introduced new tutorials and enhanced the clarity of existing tutorials! The tutorial for the first sprint will include more fixed rewards to help you build your first deck successfully while you’re still picking up the mechanics.
CONTENT UPDATED
Over 40 new cards, 8 new card mods, and many new encounters are now available! All characters are animated and gameplay mechanics feature a multitude of visual and sound effects. Balance updates and general improvements across the difficulty curve, based on extensive playtesting, have been implemented to improve game feel.
PERFORMANCE SETTINGS
Tweaks have been made to various settings in order to improve performance, including texture resolution as well as an option to disable the coffee liquid simulation (*which has been the only source of crashing we've seen so far).
BUG FIXES
Tons of bugs have been fixed — but if you still see something, say something! There's an anonymous feedback form in the game; otherwise you are welcome to jump into our Discord if you would like to message us directly. We’re trying our best to ensure a bug-free experience and welcome all feedback!
STAY TUNED!
In our next update, we'll be adding more interactions related to coworker relations, new side stories to explore, as well as more in-depth interactions with the company Smack. Deck-building options for duplicating, deleting and modifying cards will also be introduced as a mechanic through specific encounters.
And of course: there will be more content, cards, items, and mods coming soon! These will include cards that can even change and influence other cards on the board.
