May Development Update. The Seer Arrives!

Hello everyone,

Over the past few weeks, we've been refining Desert Revenant 2: The Reawakening based on feedback from our previous playtest while preparing the next major phase of development. We're currently accepting applications for our next invite-only playtest. Interested in participating?

Apply here: Playtest 3 Application

Today we'd like to share some of the biggest additions and changes currently being tested behind the scenes.

The Seer Approaches

One of the biggest additions coming to Desert Revenant 2 is our second playable Revenant: The Seer.

Unlike the Leper, who specializes in decay, debuffs, and attrition, the Seer introduces an entirely different playstyle centered around Runes, manipulation, and long-term planning.

Our goal is to offer players a distinctly different strategic experience while maintaining the deep decision-making and buildcrafting that define Desert Revenant 2.

The Seer is currently undergoing internal testing and is being prepared for our next playtest.

More details will be revealed soon.

A Major Combat Rebalance

We've also been experimenting with one of the largest combat changes we've made so far.

Players will now begin combat with 3 Mana per turn instead of 4.

While this may seem like a simple numerical adjustment, it fundamentally changes how turns are approached:

  • Every card choice becomes more meaningful

  • Resource management becomes more important

  • Deck construction carries greater weight

  • Planning several turns ahead becomes increasingly rewarding

Our goal is to create more deliberate decision-making and strengthen the tactical identity of every turn.

We're excited to see how players adapt to this new combat economy.

Introducing the Black Market Merchant

A new map node has arrived.

The Black Market Merchant offers a different type of risk-and-reward experience compared to traditional merchants.

Instead of browsing a visible inventory, players pay gold to reveal hidden goods.

The more gold invested, the more items become available.

These discoveries can include:

  • Cards

  • Upgraded Cards

  • Blessings

  • Power Cards

  • Healing Potions

  • Merchant Services

  • And other valuable opportunities

However, once the goods are revealed, players must decide whether the offering is worth the investment, or walk away empty-handed.

We're looking forward to seeing how this new system influences decision-making during runs.

Expanding Minion Perks

Minion Perks quickly became one of the most positively received additions during the previous playtest.

To further expand build variety and minion customization, we've continued adding new Perks to the growing pool of available options.

Our goal is to make every minion feel like a meaningful strategic investment rather than simply another unit on the battlefield.

We can't wait to see the combinations that you will discover!

More Cards, More Improvements

In addition to the larger features above, we've continued improving the overall experience through:

  • Additional Leper cards

  • Balance adjustments

  • User interface improvements

  • Combat clarity updates

  • General polish and cleanup

  • Numerous bug fixes

Many of these changes are direct results of feedback received from previous testers, so thank you to everyone who has helped shape the game so far.

Private Playtest 3 Applications Now Open

We're currently preparing our next private playtest.

Unlike our previous public playtests, this test will be invite-only and focused on gathering targeted feedback for several major gameplay changes currently in development.

This upcoming test will focus heavily on:

  • The Seer

  • The new 3 Mana combat system

  • Additional Minion Perks

  • The Black Market Merchant

  • Continued progression and balance improvements

Applications are now open.

If you're interested in helping us test these new features and provide feedback, you can apply using the link below:

Playtest 3 Application

Selected participants will receive access instructions and a Steam key before the playtest begins.

Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee access to the playtest.

Thank you for following the development of Desert Revenant 2: The Reawakening.

We'll see you very soon in the next playtest!
