Demo Update – Delta-4: Terminal Protocol

Hello Operators,

We’ve been hard at work expanding the Delta-4 experience, and this latest demo update introduces several exciting changes that begin to shape the next phase of the game.

🔧 Dynamic Backgrounds Now Live

Terminals across the ship are no longer static. You’ll start to notice subtle (and sometimes not-so-subtle) environmental changes, including animated lighting, system activity, and visual cues tied to the state of the ship. This is an early implementation, but it lays the groundwork for a much more immersive and reactive environment.

📝 Persistent [c]vi[/c] Sessions (Your In-Game Notepad)

One of the most requested features is here.

You can now use [c]vi[/c] as a persistent note-taking tool across terminals. Start by creating a file using:

vi

Once created, that file can be accessed and updated across different systems without losing your work. You can easily between the vi window and gameplay to quickly jot down notes or reference already documented notes. This opens the door for tracking clues, commands, network mappings, or anything else you uncover during gameplay.

🖥️ New Terminals to Explore

Several new terminals have been added throughout the ship. Many of these are early-stage placeholders intended to establish structure for upcoming content. While not all systems are fully functional yet, they give a glimpse into the scale and direction of what’s coming. There are 15 different terminals in this update - see if you can find them all!

🚧 Pre-Alpha Content – We Need Your Feedback

A significant portion of this update is pre-alpha, and your feedback is critical. We’re especially interested in:

  • Usability of the new systems

  • Immersion and feel of dynamic backgrounds

  • How you’re using (or want to use) the [c]vi[/c] editor

  • Ideas for terminal functionality and expansion

Think of this phase as exploring a ship still being assembled mid-flight.

🎬 Credits Now Available

We’ve added a Credits option to the main menu so you can see the people behind Delta-4. It’s a small addition, but an important one as the project continues to grow.

We’re excited about the direction things are heading and even more excited to have you along for the journey. Keep the feedback coming — it directly shapes what Delta-4 becomes.
