Episode 1 Progress Update: Garage Work, Phone System & New Characters
Hey everyone,
It has been a little while since the last Steam update, so I wanted to share the current state of Deadset Darling.
Episode 1 is getting closer to completion. Most of the main scenes are now finished, rendered, or being prepared for integration. There is still work left to do, but the episode is now entering its final stretch.
Let me briefly talk about the content of episode 1.
One of the main additions in Episode 1 is the garage work system.
Steam post imageAfter the prologue, Marcus arrives in Westbrook with almost nothing. Ray’s Garage becomes one of the first places where he can earn money and start getting back on his feet.
The garage is designed as a simple work mechanic. Players will be able to take small jobs, deal with customers, make basic choices during the repair process, and play short mini-games connected to the work.
Steam post imageIt is not meant to be a complex repair simulator. The goal is to support the story, give Player a way to earn money, and add light interaction between narrative scenes.
Episode 1 also introduces the foundation of the phone system.Steam post imageThe phone will be used for contacts, messages, and future character events. It starts small in Episode 1, but it is being built as a system that can grow with the game.
This update also brings more attention to the cast.
Jade:
Players who tried the demo have already met Sarah and Irina (aka Darling). Our third important character is Jade. Jade continues to be important in Episode 1, especially around Ray’s Garage and Marcus’ early work life.
Melissa:
Episode 1 also introduces Melissa, who works at the Westbrook Hotel. She brings a warmer, more talkative energy to Marcus’ first days in the city, and her scenes help show another side of Westbrook.
That is the current focus: finishing the remaining scenes, integrating the new systems, and preparing Episode 1 as the first full step after the prologue.
Thank you to everyone who has played the demo, wishlisted the game, or followed the project so far.
More updates will follow as Episode 1 gets closer to release.
