changedOver the last few weeks, I've been working on one of the biggest visual improvements to Days Of Reckoning: Last Battle . The goal wasn't simply to make the game look better, but to make every battlefield feel more alive and responsive.
added🌿 Scatter, Grass & Dynamic EnvironmentOne of the biggest additions is the new terrain scatter and grass system.
added🌿 Scatter, Grass & Dynamic EnvironmentDifferent biomes now feature richer vegetation, making battlefields feel much more natural and varied. But the new grass isn't just decoration—it actively reacts to what's happening during combat.
added🌿 Scatter, Grass & Dynamic EnvironmentUnits leave visible trails as they move through the grass, explosions flatten nearby vegetation, and grass can now catch fire. Even better, the fire is able to spread across the battlefield, creating dynamic scenes and making combat feel more immersive.
added🪨 Rock CliffsI've also introduced new rock cliffs across the maps.
added🪨 Rock CliffsThese help break up large open areas, improve the overall silhouette of the terrain, and give each battlefield a stronger identity. Combined with the new vegetation, the environments now look much more believable.

Over the last few weeks, I've been working on one of the biggest visual improvements to Days Of Reckoning: Last Battle. The goal wasn't simply to make the game look better, but to make every battlefield feel more alive and responsive.

🌿 Scatter, Grass & Dynamic Environment

One of the biggest additions is the new terrain scatter and grass system.

Different biomes now feature richer vegetation, making battlefields feel much more natural and varied. But the new grass isn't just decoration—it actively reacts to what's happening during combat.

Units leave visible trails as they move through the grass, explosions flatten nearby vegetation, and grass can now catch fire. Even better, the fire is able to spread across the battlefield, creating dynamic scenes and making combat feel more immersive.

🪨 Rock Cliffs

I've also introduced new rock cliffs across the maps.

These help break up large open areas, improve the overall silhouette of the terrain, and give each battlefield a stronger identity. Combined with the new vegetation, the environments now look much more believable.

🌊 Better Looking Water

Water has also received a significant visual overhaul.

Instead of a static surface, lakes and rivers now feature subtle movement that makes them feel much more natural while remaining clean and readable during gameplay.

Small details like this help the entire battlefield feel more alive.

🐞 Lots of Bug Fixes

Visual improvements weren't the only focus.

During the closed playtest I've received a lot of valuable feedback, and I've spent a significant amount of time fixing bugs, improving stability, and polishing gameplay systems.

Every bug fixed brings the upcoming public demo one step closer to the quality I'm aiming for.

What's Next?

The visual improvements are coming together nicely, but there's still plenty of work ahead before the public demo.

I'll continue polishing gameplay, improving performance, fixing reported issues, and adding the remaining systems needed for the first public release.

Thank you to everyone participating in the closed playtest and sharing feedback—it has been incredibly helpful.

If you haven't already, don't forget to add Days Of Reckoning: Last Battle to your wishlist and follow the game to stay updated on future development.

See you on the battlefield!
