DarkBazaar changes
DarkBazaar is s gambling roguelite where you trade illegal weapons on the dark web to pay off a debt... or die. After months of playtesting, iterating, reworking core systems, and listening closely to player feedback on itch, we’re excited to finally open the doors:
The DarkBazaar open playtest is now live on Steam.
It's still early but an official Demo is not that far off anymore and we are excited to get even more players to try DarkBazaar and help shape the direction of the game. Over the past months, we’ve:
Rebuilt progression around debt completion, meaningful upgrade choices, and clearer long-term goals
Limited crates and respins to reduce luck and increase intentional decision-making
Overhauled the crate system, letting players see what they’re buying and upgrade crates over time
Split currencies with Blood Diamonds, so upgrades feel rewarding instead of punishing
Reworked upgrades to be clearer, more visible, and more impactful
Expanded contracts with OR-conditions, Private Collectors, factions, and weapon value tiers
Introduced weapon categories, smaller focused crates, and more build-defining choices
Fixed exploits, tightened balance, improved UX, and polished clarity across the board
Every major change came from playtest feedback, discussions, and watching where players got bored, confused, or broke the economy in half (sometimes literally 😅).
What to expect
If you like gambling, managing resources and guns - lots of guns. Then we think you will like DarkBazaar! We believe in open development, it gives the players the chance to actually help shape the game from the very early stages. It also means that nothing is perfect. There will be plenty of:
Bugs
Exploits
Periods of broken balance
Changes being rolled back
That is just the nature of game development and open playtesting. If you are down with that, we welcome you into our community and take all your feedback with open arms!
