Cyber Breaker changes
Damian Sterling - Valiant Officer of the Law
As a young officer assigned to oversee the continued integration of BUDDY-bots into the police system, Damian was amongst the first to notice an anomaly in the BUDDY system.
As the hand of the law he fights to protect the people from the robotic servants turned aggressors.
Damian brings a new outlook into the BREAKER system.
Via the use of his vaults he can lock away cards from the hand for later use. With three vaults that's three extra cards that can be held onto for the right moment. What's more once released the card is empowered increasing its damage once played.
However take caution, not just is there a limit to placing 1 card in a vault per turn but that card wont be available for use again until the completion of 2 turns.
Its one thing to place cards in the vault as reserve for later use, its another to deliberately utilise this mechanic in new powerful ways. Justice Bolt is one such card. Each time it locks and unlocks it shoots down that vaults lane.
| Steam post image | Justice BoltShoot for 1 damage, when locked in a vault shoot for 1 damage in that lane, triggers again upon unlocking |
|---|
Then there's Fortification, a card that creates a number of weak walls that'll break easily. But has the additional use of reinforcing pre-existing walls only when placed in a vault.
| Steam post image | FortificationCreate a 1 hp walls in each unoccupied tile up to range 3, upon being locked in a vault the furthest wall in that lane gains 1 hp |
|---|
The next two cards provide further utility for utilising the vaults. Lockdown can be used pull cards from your deck and into the vaults with only a 1 turn wait. Whereas Empowered Release instantly unlocks the vault in your lane for immediate use.
| Steam post image | LockdownFor each empty vault draw 1 card and place it in that vault locking it for 1 turn, if played from within a vault the cost is reduced by 1 |
|---|
| Steam post image | Empowered ReleaseThe card in the vault of your lane is unlocked and additionally empowered by 1 |
|---|
Furthermore specialist cards also benefit from taking the state of the cards in the vault into consideration.
Frost Shackles only effects lanes with a card in the vault, which is greater if those cards are locked, whereas Warden Slash on the other hand benefits from discarding cards which are fully unlocked.
| Steam post image | Frost ShacklesFor each vault with a card shoot a 1 damage projectile in that lane which applies 1 Freeze, +1 Freeze if the card is locked |
|---|
| Steam post image | Warden SlashDiscard all cards in the vaults to deal damage to the target column, deals 1 damage per locked card and 2 per unlocked card up to range 3, range 5 if played from a vault |
|---|
And of course, cards are only part of the picture.
The Warden's Cap Artefact grants benefits to cards in the middle vault, with it you'll want to reconsider which cards will better benefit from the increase to damage.
Alternatively with the Communicator discarding unwanted cards from vaults will also serve to pass their empower stacks onto other cards.
| Steam post image | Warden's CapWhenever the card in middle vault unlocks it is additionally empowered by 1 |
|---|
| CommunicatorUpon using the discard action on an unlocked card in a vault, copy its empower stacks onto all other cards in the vaults |
|---|
With Damian, careful and deliberate use of the vaults can truly make the difference, make sure to utilise them to gain that tactical advantage as you bust down the advancing array of BUDDY-bots.
But don't dilly-dally, for Damian will only be available in the demo throughout Next Fest, Starting February 23rd and finishing March 2nd.
