Hey everyone, Scott here.

added"Resthaven is unique in two ways. The first being that it is only one of two submitted games in the show that features concept art for a game that is yet to be released. I feel this is really a fun way to add a bit of intrigue leading up to the launch of the game. Getting players asking “ooooh... what is THAT?” by providing little previews of the world being built is a great appetizer leading up to launch.

Curse of Resthaven was one of nine Toronto-based indies selected to participate in The Art of the Concept, a week-long exhibition presented as part of Toronto Games Week.

The exhibit showcases posters created by participating teams, highlighting the concept art, sketches, and creative process that help bring game worlds to life.

Our art team Clayton Nguyen and Maddy Woodland created an insanely beautiful poster featuring a collection of Curse of Resthaven concept art that shows the evolution of our game’s visual identity. From early explorations and character designs, to environmental concepts and finished illustrations, our poster captures both the artistic journey and the spirit of the game.

We asked Gavin McCarthy, creator of the exhibit and concept artist himself, what made Curse of Resthaven stand out among the other submissions. He told us:

"Resthaven is unique in two ways.

"The second aspect is certainly the art style. The nature of the in-game art and the pencil sketch quality lends well to exploring process and seeing elements transform from initial rough to final art."

We're honoured to have been included alongside so many talented Toronto studios, including friends like Mighty Yell and Bancy Games. A special shout-out to Capybara Games, who made Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP, which has been living rent-free in my head since 2011. Sharing a wall with them felt particularly surreal.

Check out the full poster below, and take a look through the individual sections to see some of the creative process behind Curse of Resthaven.
