Cup and Counter: Coffee Shop Simulator changes
The major change introduced in update 0.1.29 is the overhaul of the intro/tutorial section. It should now be much more robust and walk players through the entire experience at a much better pace. Part of this new system is our conversation system. Instead of just being greeted by a wall of text, the game now actually has you talk with one of the bank employees. On top of this, we have done many more passes through the game to continue improving both world detail and the polish of the user interface.
One of the most in-your-face changes in this update is how we display active orders. We now show only the two oldest orders as the full main tickets. The rest gets merged down into a mini stack. This gives the UI some breathing room and also helps a lot with the employee systems you will deal with later in the content. Below is a list of the vast majority of changes that you will see in this update. We look forward to hearing anyone's feedback as we get closer to release! Additions / Major Fixes
Significantly reworked the tutorial segment; there is now a better introduction sequence, and the tutorial should be significantly less likely to get stuck. Time will now freeze to ensure you properly process your first customer and do not have to rush while you are learning the ropes.
Implemented a new dot grid that appears when you place furniture. This will help better highlight areas where you can place objects.
Overhaul customer handling again to help reduce being overwhelmed later on in the game. The new system will maintain a constant rate, but should only ramp up the customer rate heavily once you are able to maintain a good flow. This helps resolve an issue when you have lots of tables, but no employees to help you out
Significant overhaul of the way orders are displayed. Only the two youngest orders will be shown in their entirety; the rest will be broken down into a 3-mini stack, followed by a declaration of how many orders are pending. Orders taken by an employee will display in these mini stacks. You can also press "TAB" (Default key bind) or DPAD UP (Default gamepad binding) to claim an order for yourself so employees don't take it.
Items/furniture that must be placed on the floor will now snap to the floor when placed, rather than feel like they can float through the air.
Fixed a bug that could cause the tea to lack color. They should now appear much more visually distinct.
Implemented several world items so that they are now interactable. These add extra flavor to the game but don't affect the core gameplay loops.
Toilet
Shower
Microwave
Toaster
Apartment sinks and basins
Pedestrian crossing buttons
Reduce the number of times you have to put down certain items to perform actions. Also made the tray even more useful as you can now use it to easily put multiple items away. Clean mugs and cups can be returned to the stacks using the tray.
When placing furniture that must be placed on the ground, for example, a table, you will find that it will just float off in the distance if you aren't looking at the ground exactly. To improve the user experience, we now make them hug the ground, which should make placing certain items a bit easier.
Fixes / Minor Improvements
Fixed an issue where backup saves weren't shown when the main game save became corrupted or was missing. If the main save is missing or corrupted, the system will now fall back to the first backup.
Fixed a bug that could lead to the tea not having any color
Fixed an issue where customers might think you don't have enough mugs, even though they've already placed an order that requires them.
Fixed an issue where placement preview would still show the old contents of a tray.
Fixed an issue where items already allocated to a customer can still be inadvertently seen as available by the availability manager.
Fix a collider issue that blocked the player from several buildings
Reworked the "OUT OF STOCK" within the store to make it clearer that it's just out of stock in your cafe and not the store itself.
Fixed the inability to throw out furniture
Teabags can now be disposed of in the mug, then in the trash bin. Washing up still automatically disposes of them
Fixed a bug that would lead to an incorrect stock count.
Fixed the theatre employees having the wrong clothes
Fixed an issue that could occur where NPCs' pathfinding fails
Placeable surfaces have been removed from the tops of boxes.
Fixed paintings not retaining their looks when getting converted back to a box when buying a new section.
Improved styling of the notification pop-up to better fit the visual style of the rest of the game
Improved the behavior of placing items on a wall surface. You should find it significantly easier to place items on a wall.
Improved crouching logic to help prevent situations where you get locked in the crouch position. The default behavior for crouching is not to hold. Toggling can be enabled through the settings.
Adjusted the card machine so it now sits closer to the cash register. Makes reading the money simpler and more obvious than the "Expected" text alone.
Fixed multiple bed interactables existing in the world that could lead to navigation failing
Stop the cursor from being able to display over the top of certain elements
