Greetings, your Grace! 👑
Welcome to the Chronicles of Rodovia - a series designed to prepare you for ascension to the throne! 📖 Thanks to the following entries, you will learn how to manage your kingdom and your subjects, make crucial, even fateful decisions, and safeguard your reign from premature demise. In each subsequent post, we will take a closer look at a different gameplay element and explain the basic mechanics that govern the world of Crown of Greed, so be sure to follow them carefully.
We know it's been a while...
As you've surely noticed, it’s been a while since our last devlog; however, that doesn't mean our kingdom has become deserted! Nothing of the sort - we’ve actually been hard at work in our forges, workshops, and training grounds, fully immersed in developing the Crown of Greed project.
At the same time, we want to assure you that we’re returning to a regular stream of updates straight from the kingdom of Rodovia, with some genuinely fascinating (some would say groundbreaking!) news on the horizon. Want to be one of the very first to know about them? If so, be sure to stay tuned with our Steam page and Discord server. And now...
Hero visual changes as they level up
From zero to hero! Champions' advancing system 💪
Partnering with heroes, while not cheap and often difficult, is fundamental to the operation of any kingdom. Champions' actions are an extension of the ruler's will and strategy, which is why it is said that the destiny of a ruler’s reign depends on their cunning and strength. With that in mind, we don't want to rely on weak or inexperienced heroes, right? To carry out our tasks, we need true veterans who can cope with any challenge that lies ahead. But... how can we find them?
Gaining experience and leveling up
As is usually the case, the beginnings are humble. When your kingdom sets a new foothold in an unknown, hostile land, you will have to start (almost) from scratch. After constructing the first recruitment buildings, such as Barracks, Syndicate of the Sticky Fingers, or Hunter Camp, you will be able to recruit your first adventurers. Rookies, if you will. But fear not - sending them into the wild will undoubtedly forge true warriors… at least for those who make it back.
How can your heroes earn experience?
• Dealing damage (to enemies and enemy structures),
• Killing enemies,
• Healing allies (e.g., in the case of Enchantress),
• Training in buildings tailored to enhance their possibilities (this feature is still to be developed),
• Participating in team combat with other heroes,
Upgrading hero dwelling
As you can see, true legends are made in the heat of battle, adventure, and exploration. Your heroes will gladly take on such expeditions - for the right reward, of course. Those who succeed will come back stronger… and you can always recruit new ones to replace those who don’t, right?
Each level of experience is crucial 📈
Now that we know how champions can gain their experience, let's see how it can benefit our cause. And so, each new hero level rewards them with a few points of attributes, which are crucial to their performance while completing quests. Attributes are the basic characteristics of adventurers that you can view in their character panel (after clicking on them).
Example attributes:
• attack power,
• attack speed,
• agility,
• vitality,
• armor,
• speed,
