Crown & Coin: The Hundred Years changes
Since the release of the demo, I’ve been overwhelmed by the number of players diving into the muddy quagmire of the Hundred Years' War. Thank you all so much for playing and for sending in your incredibly valuable feedback!
Today, I’m excited to announce the release of Demo Version 0.91, packed with new features and a ton of bug fixes based on your reports. The Windows, Mac, and Linux versions have all been updated to the latest build.
Here is a quick rundown of what’s new:
🪵 New Feature 1: Minigame Skip Option"I'm a Lord! I shouldn't have to sweat in the fields or draft blueprints every single time!" For those busy nobles and knights, I have implemented a feature to skip the various domestic minigames. If you prefer to focus your time on battlefield tactics and court intrigues rather than manual labor, this is for you. (Note: You'll still have to experience the weight of that very first "hard labor" as a rite of passage!)
🪵 New Feature 2: The "Log" Button in the Build Minigame"I'm here for the war, not to play games during my apprenticeship!" For our busy Lords and Knights who feel the same, we’ve implemented a Mini-Game Skip feature for internal affairs.
If you'd rather spend your precious time on the battlefield or weaving courtly intrigues, this feature is for you.
🔧 Bug Fixes & Improvements (Warning: The following is a massive wall of text listing all the bug fixes. You really don't have to read all this! Just know the game runs much smoother now!)
CRITICAL & PROGRESSION BLOCKERS
Fixed a bug where characters would mutate or their ages would drop into the negatives upon saving/loading.
Fixed a nasty bug where your skills and money would roll back, or your entire inventory would be wiped out, after studying with a doctor and then saving/loading.
Fixed a game freeze caused by opening your treasury while resting during the tutorial.
Fixed freezes that occurred during escort events or when resting for specified weeks.
Fixed an issue where council meetings would trigger while traveling on the world map, locking the game controls.
Fixed a soft-lock where completed tutorials would re-trigger upon loading a save file.
Fixed a bug in sieges where the player dying didn't trigger a Game Over, instead returning you to the world map in a broken "ghost" state.
Fixed the Game Over screen incorrectly redirecting to the world map instead of the title screen.
[System, AI, and Item Bugs]
Fixed the "Eternal 20-Year-Old" bug where the player's age wouldn't update on the status panel.
Fixed an issue where dismissed characters (demoted to civilians) and their subordinates went completely missing from the world.
Fixed a creepy bug where fired characters would still hold secret council meetings and issue domestic orders from the shadows.
Fixed an issue where Queens or spouses taking over as governors caused the original King to vanish into thin air.
Fixed a bug where players couldn't join offensive field battles even after ranking up, constantly being left on "house-sitting" duty.
Fixed the "Retreat" button incorrectly appearing and functioning during defensive battles.
Fixed multiple item-selling bugs (opening the buy screen instead, being unable to sell, or getting weird sell prices).
Fixed the alchemy exploit where equipped items could be sold infinitely for endless cash without actually losing the item.
Fixed an exploit where shop inventories would restock after saving and loading (infinite farming is now banned).
Fixed an issue where specific items like the "Mummy's Arm" or "Assam Tea" would suddenly vanish from your inventory.
Softened the harsh mechanic where moving with 0 AP caused permanent sickness. (It now worsens gradually instead of instantly dooming you).
Fixed an issue where the protagonist's lifespan data wasn't saving properly, preventing sickness and natural death events from occurring.
[UI, Graphics, and Other Tweaks]
Added a much-needed [!] button with a rule explanation modal in 18 languages for the Castle Building minigame.
Fixed the Building minigame requiring an initial click to start (now auto-focuses).
Fixed issues where the Building minigame got cut off or instructions became invisible when resizing the game window.
Fixed F11 fullscreen toggling not working. Also changed the default launch setting to fullscreen.
Fixed weird map panning behavior when middle-clicking the mouse wheel.
Fixed the logo overlapping on the top left of the title screen and brightened the "PUSH START" text for better visibility.
Fixed tutorial instruction text overlapping with various UI buttons.
Fixed a bug where changing the player's portrait reverted to the default armor portrait on the profile screen.
Fixed code variable names (like ${lordName}) showing up raw in the recruitment screen and name display bugs during escort events.
Fixed the "History" button (classic conversation UI) permanently staying on screen even outside of conversations.
Fixed BGM playing on sub-pages even when the BGM volume was set to 0%.
Standardized some name spellings (e.g., Chandos) across events.
Countless other minor tweaks and under-the-hood optimizations have also been made. If you already have the demo installed, Steam will automatically update it for you.
I hope these improvements make your descent into this brutal medieval simulation even more enjoyable. Please continue to forge your own epic histories! And if you haven't already, adding the game to your Wishlist is the absolute best way to support the development! Thank you!
