## Couch Planes Dev Update — Flight Model Changes & New UI Direction ##
Hi everyone!
A lot has been happening behind the scenes, so we wanted to share a quick development update.
During Playtest 2.1, some of you may have already noticed that Couch Planes feels noticeably different. That’s because we’ve been reworking the flight model quite heavily — partly based on your feedback, and partly based on our own ideas for where we want the overall game feel to go.
So far, we’re happy with the direction. The game now feels faster, sharper, more responsive, and simply more fun to control.
## Flight Model Update ##
Here’s what changed:
✅ Twin-stick flight handling
✅ Thumbstick barrel rolls
✅ Faster acceleration
✅ Higher top speed
✅ Cleaner drifting
✅ Smoother collisions
✅ Quicker recovery after takedowns
✅ Better control during sharp turns
✅ Less clunky plane movement
To better show the progress, we’ve prepared a direct comparison between the old and new flight model. You can check it below👇
The goal of these changes is simple: we want flying in Couch Planes to feel more dynamic, more readable, more aggressive, and more satisfying — without losing the chaotic couch multiplayer energy at the heart of the game.
## New UI Direction ##
On top of the flight model changes, we’re also working on a new UI direction for Couch Planes.
This includes updated menu screens and a cleaner overall presentation. It’s still work in progress, but it already makes the game feel much more complete.
We’ve also attached a few images showing the progress, including a look at the new menu compared to the old placeholder version.

Thanks again to everyone who tested the game, shared feedback, wishlisted Couch Planes, or simply followed the project so far.
We'll be back with more updates soon. Stay tuned! ✈️
