Private Equity (new)
What it is A full buy-fix-sell loop for running your own PE firm alongside the games studio and empire. You found a firm, raise LP capital, diligence targets, structure leveraged buyouts, chair portfolio board meetings, manage crises, and work toward exits — all from a dedicated Private Equity workspace.
How to get there
Sidebar → Capital Markets → Private Equity
The tab unlocks when you reach Tycoon mogul rank (or if you already have an active fund from a save).
First-time setup
Open Private Equity.
Click Found PE firm.
Walk through the wizard: Global HQ → Firm brand (name, colours, logo) → Investment thesis (risk posture) → Confirm.
You land in the marble Lobby with committed capital, dry powder, debt burn, and reputation at a glance.
Main sections (segmented nav at the top of the PE screen)
| Section | What you do |
|---|---|
| Lobby | Home base — shortcuts to raise capital, deal room, boardroom, track record, and CEO mode |
| Raise Capital | Bring in LP dry powder before chasing bigger deals |
| Deal Room | Browse acquisition targets, run diligence, submit LOIs, open negotiations and bidding wars |
| Diligence | Track active diligence reports and completed findings |
| Portfolio | Open company dossiers, chair board meetings, run transformations |
| Boardroom | Accept, reject, or replace CEO plans when a board meeting is pending |
| Offices | HQ and regional office upgrades |
| Funds | Multi-fund view as your firm scales |
Typical deal flow
Deal Room → pick a target → Run diligence → View diligence report.
Structure debt/equity on the card → Submit LOI or Open negotiation if a deal is already in progress.
Close the buyout → company appears under Portfolio.
Portfolio → Open dossier or Chair board when the CEO wants a strategy decision.
Resolve portfolio events (union strikes, operational crises, etc.) from the banner on the PE screen or from your assistant briefing (see below).
Build exit readiness and exit when the opportunity appears.
Money & reporting
Deals spend studio/company cash and fund equity; portfolio companies carry debt and weekly interest burn on the firm.
Weekly P&L rolls into group books — visible on Bank and in empire reporting.
Empire Command surfaces PE risks and actions when something needs attention.
Chairman vs operating partner
Default Chairman mode: major PE decisions stay on your desk.
Optional Operating Partner (via Empire CEOs tab) can handle routine PE work — switch from Lobby → Change in CEOs.

Executive Assistant (new)
What it is
A personal executive assistant for your empire: they consolidate intelligence from studio finance, PE, media, politics, and the calendar into one briefing tablet, and Ping you on Founder Phone when something can’t wait.
Unlock You need Founder Phone (week 4+) and one of:
Tycoon mogul rank or higher
$500k company cash
An active PE fund
How to hire
Open Founder Phone (phone icon on the dock).
Tap the Assistant button on the phone dock.
If eligible but not hired, it opens the Hire executive assistant wizard.
If locked, you get a short reason (week / rank / cash / PE).
Pick from 5 candidates (portraits, bios, specialties, weekly salaries).
Confirm hire — no upfront fee; salary deducts each week while employed.
(Staff tab shows a one-line hint only — the dock Assistant button is the primary hire path.)
Briefing tablet Founder Phone dock → Assistant (or tap a linked Ping message).
Split view:
Left: briefing inbox (priority-sorted watchlist items)
Right: detail for the selected item
Each item can include:
Narrative — what’s happening and why it matters
Stat chips — live figures (EBITDA, runway, applicant name, media momentum, etc.)
Impact previews — “If you accept / reject / replace CEO…” consequence hints
Inline actions — resolve without leaving the tablet
Drill deeper → — jumps the main game to the relevant tab; tablet stays open until you close it
What the assistant watches (configurable via ⚙ in tablet header)
| Topic | Examples |
|---|---|
| Studio finance | Cash runway, debt, hoarding |
| Studio projects | Pending decisions, too many parallel projects |
| Studio staff | Morale, burnout, who needs attention |
| Private equity | Portfolio events, board meetings, debt burn, exits |
| Empire risks | Hostile media narratives, scrutiny, underprepared conferences |
| Politics | Elections, referendums (when unlocked) |
| Capital markets | High-urgency “next week” items (e.g. talent approaches expiring) |
Ping integration
Critical/high items can trigger an assistant Ping when you advance the week.
Ping bubbles with a briefing link are clickable → opens the tablet on that item.
Set phone urgency in preferences (critical only / high+ / medium+).
Resolve decisions in the tablet (no tab-hopping required)
PE portfolio events — Invest / Cut hard / Ignore
PE board meetings — Accept CEO plan / Reject / Replace CEO
Media — prep conferences, answer/decline interviews
Dismiss — clear noise until game state changes
Meet your assistant in person Book a meeting (restaurant, etc.) via People & Profiles. Executive assistants get meeting moves:
Review this week’s briefing → opens tablet
Adjust what you watch → opens tablet preferences
Walk me through the top priority → opens tablet on highest-urgency item
Catch up over dinner — social rapport (affinity/mood)
Messaging Once hired, your assistant appears in Ping without needing a prior meeting, same as other key contacts.
Golf Club, finance clarity (fix)
What was wrong Players expected golf to work like the fitness chain, which has its own chain cash balance that grows with profit and can be transferred to personal cash. Golf looked like it had “nowhere for the money to go.”
How golf actually works Golf uses studio cash (your main company treasury), not a separate club wallet:
Land, builds, openings, and weekly ops all bill to studio cash.
Weekly membership net (dues minus maintenance, staff, etc.) posts to studio cash when you advance the week.
To move money to your personal mogul wallet: Mogul Profile or Bank → Withdraw to personal cash — same as other studio-treasury ventures (e.g. newspaper).
What we changed (surfacing only, no actual sim / logic change)
Golf Club screen header — “Cash” is now labelled Studio cash, with a tooltip explaining the fitness difference and how to withdraw personally.
Books card (Overview) — note that weekly net posts to studio cash on week advance; there is no separate club budget.
Bank → business unit panel (Golf) — explainer matching the fitness panel style, so group books vs club wallet is obvious side-by-side.
Note: this was a last minute addition to the release, so we can change the way this works in future if needed (e.g., if the current logic doesnt make sense). And thanks, keep the feedback coming in!
Quick reference
| Fitness chain | Golf club | |
|---|---|---|
| Operating wallet | Separate chain cash | Studio cash |
| Weekly profit lands in | Chain cash | Studio cash (immediately on week advance) |
| Spend from | Chain cash | Studio cash |
| Get to personal cash | Fitness → Finance tab transfer | Mogul Profile / Bank withdraw |
