Colonies of The Remnant changes
The world didn’t collapse overnight.
It began with Catxone, a virus created to cure cancer. It spread faster than anyone could contain and what once seemed like a breakthrough quickly turned into something far worse.
Now the world is fractured and survival is no longer enough on its own. What comes next is about pushing further, taking control and deciding how far you’re willing to go.

Rome
We’ve started working toward bringing Rome into the game and this is something we’re genuinely excited about.
At the same time, we’ve also begun working on the Rome map itself. We’re currently exploring the right scale for it. It needs to be large enough to support open world gameplay while still feeling dense and structured. The exact size isn’t locked yet but we’re actively shaping the layout and how the city will play.
As you progress, you begin picking up fragmented radio signals coming from across the ocean. They’re weak and inconsistent but enough to suggest something is still active on the other side.
That’s where the idea of crossing begins. Rome is not a place you unlock. It’s a destination you prepare for.
You build toward it with selected members of your colony. You decide what to risk and who to take with you.
Crossing the ocean isn’t simple. It’s something you have to figure out. Maybe it starts with a small boat or something barely holding together. Maybe you come across something larger like an abandoned ferry or a vessel that can actually survive the journey. It’s something you work toward over time.
We’re still shaping how this works but the goal is clear. Getting there should feel like a risk you choose to take.
And it’s optional. You can stay where you are and expand your territory and continue building your colony.
But if you choose to go, you’re stepping into a different kind of battlefield.
Rome offers tighter streets, denser layouts and a more controlled style of combat. Movement is limited, encounters are closer and every decision matters more.
We’re putting a lot of care into making sure that reaching Rome feels meaningful.
Looking Ahead
At the same time we’re currently preparing an updated version of the demo based on everything we’ve been building.
This version will better reflect the direction of the game and the systems we’ve been improving. We’ll also begin sharing new gameplay footage and updated visuals soon so you can see how everything is coming together as we get closer to Early Access.
There’s still a lot ahead. More cities. More systems. More ways to expand your colony.
Stay ready. We’ll see you soon.
