CODEX MORTIS changes
Hi everyone,
Endgame meta-progression is here. As always, your feedback shapes the game directly. If something is not working for you, please share it on the Steam forums or our Discord - it helps far more than a negative review and we read and respond to everything.
We also would love to invite you to watch our devlog:
Mortis Mastery
A brand new prestige system for veteran necromancers. Once you've maxed out all Fundamentals, a whole new layer of character growth opens up - keep spending souls on an endless progression path instead of hitting a dead end.
Gain Mortis Levels by spending souls. Each level grants 1 Mortis Point to invest however you like. Cost scales with level, so every level feels earned.
Four Fundamentals Categories
Distribute Mortis Points across:
Offense - Damage, Cooldown Reduction, Area
Lethality - Crit Chance, Crit Damage
Defense - Max HP, HP Regen, Armor
Utility - Movement Speed, Orb Range, XP Gain
Five Spell School Boosts
Specialize by pumping Mortis Points into Necromancy, Curses, Soul Magic, Summoning, or Blood Magic for +5% damage per point to every spell in that school.
Starting Level Bonus
Every 10 Mortis Levels (starting from Level 1) grants +1 starting character level on every run. Begin runs already ahead of the curve.
Free Respec
Changed your mind? Reset all spent Mortis Points at any time with a simple two-click confirmation. Your Mortis Level and souls stay intact. Experiment freely.
Quality of Life
Level-up upgrade cards now show the correct category icon - Offense, Lethality, Defense, Utility instead of the generic placeholder
"Upgrades Available" marker now lights up when you can buy a new Mortis Level or have unspent Mortis Points
Mortis Points terminology properly translated across all 28 supported languages
Balance Notes
Category investment is worth roughly 1/4 of a normal character level per point, distributed across all stats in that category
Spell school boosts are flat +5% damage per point - specialization wins for focused builds, category Fundamentals win for mixed-school builds
No hard caps. Pure prestige - push as far as you want
Thank you for playing CODEX MORTIS. More updates are on the way.
