Cloak And Coin changes
Greetings Thieves,
Another month, another update. This one brings a brand new contract alongside a handful of quality of life improvements that should make things feel smoother across the board.
Introducing a new contract available on all difficulties: By The Books. Your job is simple on paper, break in and steal a rare Grimoire. It’s a tighter, more contained contract, perfect if you’re after something a bit more focused without losing that classic heist feel.
I’m really happy with how this one turned out. I’ve always had a soft spot for big, old libraries, so this was a fun one to build out.
Alongside the new contract, I’ve been putting time into improving the overall feedback loop. The goal is to make contracts feel fun and rewarding no matter what difficulty you’re playing on. There’s still more to come here, and I’m hoping it won’t be too long before I can share something a bit bigger that I’ve been working on in the background.
Update 1.4 Patch Notes
Now onto the gameplay changes and bug fixes.
Gameplay:
Added new By The Books contract to all difficulties in Career Mode.
Added By The Books to the Contract Maker.
Reworked the throwing system to be more responsive to direction and verticality. You can now properly aim throws, including vertically.
Reduced Guards’ vertical vision distance across all difficulties to a more sensible value.
Increased the price of the Brain In The Jar from The Brain Drain contract from 180 gold to 850 gold. It was a bit too easy to grab before, this should make it feel more worthwhile.
Updated the Rogues Den exit to feature a ladder instead of teleporting players into contracts.
Updated Jewels Of The Trade so the main shop door is always open, improving AI pathfinding and player flow.
Updated Gunpowder Gambit so the dividing door is always open again for better flow and AI behaviour.
Bug fixes:
Fixed an issue where players could get stuck in a different menu when starting Career Mode.
Fixed an issue where a lever icon could occasionally not appear in The Brain Drain.
Fixed an issue where items could get stuck on players’ heads after being thrown.
Fixed an issue where the Rogues Den running water could play at an extremely loud volume.
Fixed an issue where re-rolling a contract in Career Mode could prevent reopening the Career menu via the quest board.
Fixed an issue where players could occasionally not attach Dynamite to safes.
Also just wanted to say I’ve been having a great time watching a few of you streaming the game over on Twitch lately. Always a bit surreal seeing people approach contracts in ways I never expected (and occasionally completely break things in the process).
As always, if you’d like to report bugs, share clips, or chat with me and other Thieves, you can join the community here.
Happy heisting,
netDOT
