City 20 changes
Our second major Quality of Life update is officially here! It is packed with UI improvements, balancing changes, smarter NPCs, and a ton of features designed to make your day-to-day survival in City 20 much smoother.
Here is everything included:
QoL Features
UI & HUD
- Citizen Info ModeWe've added a new toggleable "Citizen Info" mode that displays NPC information over their heads. This keeps your screen completely uncluttered when you aren't using it!
Inventory Color-Coding: Items are now color-coded in your inventory for much faster sorting and management.
Keyword Styling: Important keywords now use different text styles and colors to stand out in dialogue and menus.
HUD Priority: Notifications will now display over other open HUD menus so you never miss an alert.
- Crafting FeedbackAdded a new popup notification to confirm when you successfully craft an item.
Trespassing Alerts: Trespassing feedback is now much clearer and more prominent on the HUD.
- Placeable DurabilityAdded a visible durability indicator above placed items, such as campfires and traps.
Map & Navigation
Map Directions: When you ask an NPC for directions, the location will now be shown on your map for the first time.
- Zone NamesMap readability has been improved by adding clear Zone Names directly onto the map.
Gameplay & Interactions
Auto-Introductions: When speaking to an NPC for the first time, they will now automatically introduce themselves. No need to manually select the "introduce yourself" dialogue action!
Phase Energy Analyzer Upgrade: Wearing the analyzer will now actively increase Atker spawn rates, and it will clearly display on your HUD whether or not you are in an active Hotzone where they can spawn.
Faster Gathering: We’ve sped up the collection animation to keep your scavenging runs feeling fast and efficient.
NPC Optimizations
Appropriate Escalation: NPCs will now draw the correct weapon for the situation (no more getting knifed just because you threw a punch!).
Shift Preparation: NPCs will now start preparing to go to work at least 30 minutes before their shift actually begins.
Routine Fixes: We have optimized daily routines to resolve multiple situations where NPCs could get stuck in a task or ignore others.
Gameplay Systems
- Reward Fallback SystemIf an NPC has given you all of their available blueprints, they will now reward you with money instead. (We plan to expand this system in the future to offer better rewards and give you the ability to choose your prize!)
Tutorial
Tutorial Update: We've revamped the Tutorial zone, and the introduction of Atkers now happens right there.
Balancing and Optimizations
- Phase Energy AbsorberAbsorption time has been drastically reduced from 20 seconds down to a quick 6 seconds.
Apple Yields: Apple trees now take longer to grow apples and will produce fewer of them.
- Food ExpirationExpiration times for raw rotten foods have been reduced (it now takes 1 to 3 days for various raw foods to fully turn into organic waste).
Sickle Damage Nerfed
Hunting Knife Damage Buffed
Campfire Durability: It loses durability when lit.
- Starting BlueprintsThe Electric Meter and Wood Stove blueprints are now available from the start.
Performance: Implemented continuous CPU and GPU-sided optimizations.
Bug Fixes
Quests
Missing Scout: Fixed a missing *cough cough* dialogue line when giving documents to the Military Leader, ensuring the dialogue option to give the documents to Dimitry displays correctly.
Gate guards will now reliably tell you where the scouts were last seen.
Diary notes will properly update as you progress.
Record Collector: The target NPC will now correctly invite you into their house and trade you the record.
The Accident: The quest will no longer instantly fail if you have a negative relationship with the quest giver.
Aegis Projects: The projects can now be successfully traded to a different Raboch Councilor, and the quest will end correctly.
- The Cold TouchFixed an issue where the Raboch would start the construction of the Cold Touch while they were building the Aegis.
Dimitry's Fate: Mozga NPCs will now correctly refer to Dimitry by his name rather than a placeholder tag when discussing his death.
Money Extortion: The dialogue option to extort money will now be removed once the quest is completed. Additionally, the quest giver will no longer relentlessly attack the player if the quest fails.
Killing the quest giver no longer adds a note to the Active Activities.
Gameplay & NPCs
Knocking: NPCs will now reliably respond and open the door when you knock.
Combat Constraints: NPCs can now properly hit you while you are carrying a corpse on your shoulders.
Bribery: Implemented various fixes to the Money Bribe system to make it much more stable.
Status Effects: The Food Poisoning status will no longer incorrectly disappear when your character gets severely sick.
Crime Reports: Faction Crime Report feedback now displays properly.
Radioactive Status: The radioactive status indicator is now displayed properly on the HUD.
Fixed an issue where loading a saved game while suffering from radiation sickness would cause the character to vomit relentlessly.
Decomposing Corpses: Corpses will now correctly decompose after a load. Unfortunately, only NPCs that die after this fix will correctly decompose.
Market Day: Vendors will now reliably show up to their stalls during the Market Day.
Sellers will now clear out successfully their remaining stock once the market concludes. Note that they may require multiple trips to transport all unsold goods back to storage.
Other
- Tavern LightsFixed a bug where the tavern lights would remain permanently turned on after loading a save.
Drunk like an Atker: Drunk NPCs no longer float like an Atker.
Blueprints UI: The blueprints tab will no longer get stuck showing the information of the last blueprint you hovered over after closing and reopening the menu.
Reading UI: Reading a book from any storage and closing the storage won't lock the player on the spot anymore.
- Item DropsFixed an issue where items dropped inside small shacks would incorrectly spawn on the roof instead of the floor.
- Statistics Agency AccessFixed an issue where this diary note would spam every time you load the game, and stopped it from incorrectly adding itself to Active Activities (Note: saves that have already experienced the bug may still show the old notes) .
- AnimationsFixed various minor animation errors across the game.
- StabilityFixed multiple crash instances, making the game much more stable for long-run playthroughs.
As always, a huge thank you to everyone supporting us, playing the game, and sending in feedback. We have already started working on future updates, with a huge focus on expanding the game flow and the lore of the city.
See you in the City!
