Chess Kingdom changes
Player Scintilus did a request for Korean AI personalities, so here they are!
🇰🇷 Meet the new Korean AIs
Mochi — A shy bunny who overthinks everything and apologizes when she captures your pieces. Practices openings by whispering moves to her stuffed animals. (Easy, Elo 720)
Hana — Grew up playing baduk with her grandmother and brings that same calm, territorial mindset to chess. Will slowly suffocate your position while offering you tea. (Normal, Elo 1000)
Joon — University chess club president who runs on coffee and color-coded spreadsheets. Gets genuinely hyped about good moves, even yours. (Normal, Elo 1200)
They've all got full chat dialogue, the South Korean piece set, and they're translated into all 16 languages.
📅 League overhaul — Matchdays
I also wasn't really happy with how the league felt. You'd just play your games one by one and the AI matches all happened invisibly in the background. Felt kind of lifeless.
So now the league runs on matchdays. Everyone in the division plays on the same day, and after your match you can check out how the other games went. The standings build up round by round instead of everything being decided behind the scenes at the start. Makes it feel way more like an actual league.
Other stuff
Bronze Keep (Division 5) now has 7 competitors instead of 5
Divisions can hold up to 7 players now, and if it ever goes over that a new division gets created automatically
Your existing saves are fine — current season finishes normally, matchdays kick in next season
Keep the suggestions coming: this whole update started from a single discussion post!
See you on the board! ♟️
