Balance

  • Player movement code has been completely replaced. It is now much more faithful to iD Tech and (g)old Source.

    • Added a speedometer under player name to the UI. Disable it in Settings.

  • Most weapons have had a TTK/damage adjustment.

  • Player visibility and highlighting has been reworked.

    • Removed overhead "hostile triangle".

    • Added "barrel flares" to hostile players. Reactive to effective range and ammo type.

    • Players now cast a small amount of light.

    • Added an "importance" visual effect to saturate players, and other important objects.

      • Overall environment saturation has been reduced.

  • Reworked Assault Rifle alt-fire grenade to be more consistent and useful.

  • Adjusted Slug Repeater to spin down over a short period of time instead of immediately.

  • Reworked Scrap Blaster to feel more consistent and lethal within it's combat range.

  • Reworked Fissile Collider. Reduced damage, improved ammo economy for primary and alt fire.

  • Most weapons that are not already explicitly in the "Precision" style category have had their ability to headshot removed. Certain exceptions include most automatic hitscan weapons. In particular, automatic large-projectile weapons (Machine Gun, Capacitor Rifle etc.) can no longer headshot.

    • Example: The Minigun retains it's ability to headshot. The Machine Gun lost it.

    • Weapons affected by this change have had their base damage increased (usually equivalently) to compensate.

  • Reworked weapon Plus-Powers.

    • Relaxed ammo effect damage thresholds across all weapons.

    • A Plus-Power level can be gained by collecting a duplicate of a weapon you already have.

    • Scoring a kill with a weapon reduces it's level by one, and grants a small amount of ammo.

    • Weapon pickups now drop at the level they were held at.

    • A select number of weapons that need more to "feel" the effects of their Plus-Power bonuses have had their individual scalars increased.

    • Added "Power Pills" to the Firing Range to test weapon level.

      • Duplicate and level-down effects are disabled in the Firing Range.

  • Reworked the Voltage weapon Plus-Power. Now spawns a lightning strike object that tracks targets for a short time before "disjointing", striking shortly after.

    • Strike can affect multiple targets in it's (small) radius.

  • Recoil and bloom have been reevaluated across all weapons. Many weapons have more (and more consistent) recoil and recoil patterns.

  • All heal and repair effects that were previously "burst" now occur over 1s (technically 0.9s as a tick of healing is applied immediately)

    • Example: Large Health kits restore 10hp every 0.1s, for 0.9s (100hp total)

  • Most items and effect sources that previously applied a small amount of damage and a status effect now simply apply the status effect

    • Example: Spray Can no longer deals 12 damage upon affecting a target with the Painted status.

  • "Painted" status effect has been expanded. Now spawns a paint blob on death.

  • Paint "splats" have been expanded. Now "slip" you off of them in your direction of motion.

  • Replaced item spinner UI with a new version that actually shows a preview of the items you could obtain at your placement.

  • Item system changes:

    • Respawning with >4 and >9 armor stacks grants a free item roll each.

    • Item Spirits have a new "no armor stack" type.

    • Items no longer drop on death. Instead. dying with items creates an Item Spirit per full slot.

    • Added crosshair elements to indicate when an item starts rolling.

    • Added the "Item Meter", a gauge made up of 3 "pips".

    • Item Spirits now grant a single "pip" if they are not shot, and 3 pips if they are (full meter)

    • Meter pips are gained passively at a slow rate.

  • Specific Item changes:

    • The Grapple Hook no longer needs to contact a surface to activate and pull you towards it.

    • The Ink Rocket now creates a paint splat whenever it bounces.

    • Sensor items no longer hang out in your item slot waiting for you to "commit" the track.

    • The Boombox has a new "backpacked" state. Crouch to drop the box off.

    • Burst Bubble shields are now persistent, taking only one hit to break.

    • The Phase Watch now makes you much more invisible and leaves a hologram behind.

    • Auto-Missiles are now the Seeker Swarm. No more timer, the missiles simply hang out until you use them (or die)

Features

  • New Main Menu screen: the Codex. Contains a record of all accessible game content including weapons, maps, cards, etc.

  • Open loot crates in the Lobby!

  • Player face customization has been expanded to contain optional "slots" for alternate faces for combat states.

  • Ray Gun, Mine Thrower and Slug Repeater got beautiful new remodels

  • Added idle particle effects to a number of Voltage weapons that indicate ammo state.

  • Improved "chambering" animations on multiple shotgun-type weapons.

  • Overall scene saturation has been reduced.

  • Added new combat medals for going on a headshot kill streak.

  • Improved visual diversity between combat medal icons.

  • Added new transition screens to changing levels and changing scenes.

  • The chat window can now be closed by pressing [Backspace] when empty.

  • Bots can now attack placed damageable objects (traps, bio-blobs, etc.) and item boxes/spirits

  • Bots now crouch

  • Chat "last command" handling has been improved.

  • Changed player list entriesremoved armor stack indicator, added bot head.
  • Improved sounds for multiple "spin-type" weapons.

  • Weapon viewmodels have been reauthored across all weapons for better posing and readability.

  • Third-person weapon poses have been touched up across all weapons.

  • Improved visibility of "tracker" (wallhack) UI.

  • Improved impact visuals for bouncing projectiles.

  • Added a lobby command to control splitscreen. This is not an official feature!

  • Improved match end experience.

  • High rate of fire weapons no longer spawn a tracer with every bullet.

  • Game vote UI now uses appropriate bot head "stamps" instead of progress bars to indicate votes.

  • Added "cinematic bars" to death screen to make it more evident.

  • Improved Incinerator primary and alt fire VFX.

  • Improved player footstep animation syncing.

  • Added unique projectile impact VFX for each ammo type.

  • Gamepad Aim Assist has been improved.

  • Added an option for mouse inversion.

  • Improved explanations for gold events.

  • Improved mode "Major Alerts" UI.

  • Added weapon swap sounds.

  • Updated Item Box visuals.
