The world of Bylina is not only shaped by what lives, but by what refuses to die.
Corruption, undead creatures, and forces tied to the Thrice-Ninth Kingdom emerge where the natural order begins to break down. Some are remnants of what once was, others are shaped by dark magic, and some feel as though they were never meant to exist at all. Each of them reflects a different side of the world, from decay and distortion to something far more unnatural.
So, sit back and enjoy part 3 of the more unusual beings you can encounter in Bylina.

Milyuta the Mutant
Milyuta the Mutant is a transformed version of the bandit leader Big-Head Milyuta.
Once human, he has been twisted into something violent, deformed, and unstable. However, what defined him before has not disappeared; it has only grown stronger. His brutality, his hunger for power, and his cruelty now exist without restraint, amplified within his monstrous form.
What makes Milyuta stand out is that he is not simply a creature born of corruption. Instead, he represents something far more unsettling: the idea that corruption does not always create something new, but can reveal and intensify what was already there.
The Pumpkin-Headed Enlightened
The Pumpkin-Headed Enlightened is a distorted guardian found in the corrupted reaches of the Thrice-Ninth Kingdom.
Its body glows with unnatural light, and its head has taken the form of a sinister pumpkin. It moves awkwardly, but don't be fooled, its attacks are dangerous, coming at you with blinding flashes, poisons to slow you down, and it has an explosive final act should it be brought to the brink of death.
It is both grotesque and strangely theatrical, making it one of the more visually distinctive enemies in the list.
This creature captures a lot of what makes Bylina’s darker side effective. It is eerie, magical, and bizarre all at once. Not simply undead, not simply demonic, and not just another "pumpkin monster." It feels like a very specific product of the world's corrupted logic.
Ghoul Spider
The Ghoul Spider is a hybrid undead creature found in crypts and dark caves.
Fast and erratic, it attacks much like a spider, with venom and webbing, trapping its prey before finishing it off. To humans, its movements look unnatural, and the sounds that it makes are the same.
What makes it particularly dangerous is how it forces you to adapt. Surviving an encounter with it demands movement, awareness, and quick reactions, and for the inexperienced, this quickly disrupts any sense of control that they have on the fight.
Ghoul and Swampkin
The Ghoul is a reanimated corpse, slow, heavy, and relentless.
It attacks at close range, relying on strength and endurance rather than speed. Difficult to bring down, it is often encountered in groups, guarding places that should not be disturbed. It is simple in nature, but effective, a persistent threat that does not stop once it begins to move. The Swampkin is a shifting mass of decaying mud and algae.
It blends into the swamp, turning the environment itself into a weapon. When it attacks, it slows, traps, and poisons its victims, so facing it requires constant movement and a lot of spatial awareness.
When encountered, the Swampkin often feels not like a single creature within a swamp, but a being that is an actual part of it.
Koschei the Deathless
Koschei is the central dark force behind much of Bylina’s conflict.
He is timeless and ancient, defined not by
