It has been a while since I wrote any kind of Devlogs, so a quick recap: I'm a solo developer from Hungary, working after work hours on my first commercial project, Blue Flame, a top-down action game in which you play as a pyromancer in a world where flames only emitt cold. I've been at this project for on and off - mostly off - for around 5 years now, but over the last 1.5 years I started to take the whole project seriously.

Fast forward 1.5 years, small amounts of work every day and the game is nearly done. It's both exciting and frightening at the same time. There's still some stuff left to do, so let's see how my faithful Hack'n'Plan milestone is doing.

The reason I like to look at this board is because it actually calms me down. It's nice to see that it's only basically a work week worth of work (try to say this many times fast), but this doesn't cover the whole story. Because this milestone is continuously growing at an alarming rate. Sometimes very basic things pop into my head, like achievements, and I'll have to assign time to it. One could argue that this is just feature creep, but not really. This is just stuff that I haven't written down because I'm a dumdum.

I'll have the next week of from work, so I can try to do as much as I can - suck it, Cyberpunk 2077 - and hopefully by the end of the week I'll have most of the content done. "But what's actually missing from the game?" I hear you ask, because so far I haven't done anything but just wasted your time, so here's the most important stuff that's missing and most likely I will work on it in the following order:

  • The Enchantress

  • King Gawain

  • Sikla Castle

  • The Gatekeeper

  • Extra enemies

  • The Archmage

In theory this list doesn't look that bad, but if there's something I've learned over the last few years is that theory is one thing. To end this post on a positive note, a community member suggested adding barrels that can explode into the game. Here's how that turned out:
