Blood in the Panopticon changes
What I've been doing
There are three main things I have been working on:
Content that I had planned but did not make it into the Demo
Content and tweaks that you suggested after you played the Demo
Bug fixes and balancing
The progress I made on all three fronts is pretty substantial. For those of you who have played the Demo you are going to find a lot of new stuff in the full game. So let's take them in order and see what exactly I have been working on.
Content that I had planned but did not make it into the Demo
An entirely new combat modifiers system that you unlock after several runs. It will allow you to spend a bit of currency and get a set of modifiers (one good and one bad) that will change the way you play the next run. Expect stuff like: Double to all your attributes BUT you cannot use the main weapon; Deal double damage while overheated BUT you also overeat when taking damage. Stuff like this. They are random so expect a lot of funky combinations.
A new Base Upgrade page that gives you some cool upgrades including one that allows you to sacrifice all the currency earned in a run for an instant revive.
A lot of quality of life features in the pause menu: A minimap; Distance traveled; Currency collected; Current upgrade stack; Mission manager.
The usual controls for Visual Novels: Skip conversation, Auto play and Conversation Log.
Steam Achievements.
An enemy that empowers other nearby enemies.
New art for the base, the admin and a bunch of other small things.
A bunch of new conversations between the admin and C424.
A bunch of end-game content. (stuff that was not in the Demo because you could not get that far.
Improved SFX for various things.
More music. I also posted the full OST on YouTube. View store page
Content and tweaks that you suggested after you played the Demo
A full redesign of the enemy combat AI. Enemies are now smarter, they have various tactics they employ, like pincer maneuvers, flanking, bullet saturation and more.
Improved the combat feel when there are a lot of enemies on screen. Combat should not be way more deliberate and orderly while keeping a bit of the chaotic vibe.
Added cover and gave enemies the ability to hide behind cover, mind line of sight and toggle between hiding and attacking based on their combat role. (A small caveat here: Given the fast and chaotic nature of the combat this might not feel that evident, but still adds another layer of tactics as you'll have to maneuver around cover)
Added a bunch of visual and sound effects to Combat Events to make it more clear when an event is about to be failed, is failed or is completed.
You can now inspect C424 at any time.
Improved some UI elements.
A lot of smaller tweaks that I kinda lost track of, but there are a lot.
Bug fixes and balancing
A lot of balancing work for the combat, especially on bosses.
Changed the price of things.
Increased transparency for C424's mood and mental state.
A lot of combat bugs.
Some Combat Upgrades were outright broken (in the sense that they did not work). I fixed them all.
Fixed a bunch of sound glitches.
Next steps
This is all that is DONE as of writing this. I have a lot more stuff that is still Work in Progress. The most import this is a HUUUUUGE batch of combat Upgrades. Y'all really wanted more Upgrades so I have compiled a list of around 100 new Combat Upgrades. Some you have suggested, some I had already planned but did not have time to get in the game before the Next Fest. This will include upgrades for the Sword, more Quantum bullshit, more diverse weapon upgrades, a furry state and much much more.
Other than that, I also plan to add more enemies, move varied combat encounters and bring even more balancing and fun factors to the combat.
One more thing
I was wondering if making a Discord server for the game would make any sense. So if you are interested in that, please let me know.
