Welcome to Blockremental!

In this cubical excavation game, you play as a young hero determined to uncover the island’s secrets... and confront the dragon Nefarok.

Blockremental blends several familiar genres: incremental progression, tower defense, crafting, wave survival, and scoring, all combined into a unique and accessible experience.

Here’s a guide to help you start your adventure on the right foot.

Awakening

You open your eyes on a mysterious island. In front of you stands the central platform: the core of your progression and the only way to reach the depths where Nefarok sleeps.

This strange structure is not just a machine. It’s an ancient artifact left behind by Mikia, the vanished goddess, to guide her descendant (you!) on a sacred mission. The platform is your lifeline, your gateway to the underground, and the only thing capable of drilling through the layers of the island to uncover its darkest secrets.

To begin, activate the platform by pressing F. This will trigger the appearance of your first block, drawn directly from the layer below.

Punch the block with your bare hands to start breaking it. Each block has a resistance gauge that appears as you strike it. Some blocks will be harder and take longer to destroy than others. Once the block is broken, another one appears in its place, continuing the descent.

A red beam of light above the platform marks the exact spot where the block has been taken from, allowing you to track how deep you’ve gone into the current layer.

Tip: You can press E to sit on the platform’s seat. While seated and aiming the little square on the block, it will be broken automatically over time, letting you focus on other tasks or simply observe... though at a slower pace.

First tools and resources

Take a moment to explore your surroundings and gather some basic materials:

  • Wood can be collected by chopping down trees with your bare hands.

  • Stone can be found in the environment or obtained by breaking blocks on the platform.

As you progress, you’ll also discover rarer resources scattered throughout the world.

With your early materials, you’ll be able to craft your first tools: The Mass, which lets you deal heavier blows, and the Axe, which cuts down trees more efficiently.

You’ll also gain access to the Ultimate Breaker, a special power granted by Mikia that allows you to instantly destroy a block in one hit. But use it wisely, it has limited charges!

The platform and its interface

On the left side of your screen, you’ll find the interface showing key information:

  • Your current level progress

  • Your experience level (XP)

  • The damage rate inflicted on blocks

  • The respawn time for new blocks

  • The crafting time for items

Keeping an eye on these values will help you make the most of your time and optimize your workflow.

Every time you reach a new layer, you’ll unlock fresh crafting recipes. After each layer, you’ll be presented with two additional recipes, pick one to specialize your playstyle and customize your build.

Talent trees

As you dig deeper, you’ll unlock two separate talent trees.

The first one is focused on your character. It allows you to improve your health, resistance, movement speed, and unlock abilities like double jump.

The second one enhances your platform. It lets you increase the number of machines you can place, speed up the auto-click rate, and improve rewards like XP, Gold, and loot bonuses.

To unlock talents, you’ll need to spend the Gold you earn from mining. Choose your upgrades carefully to shape your strategy and boost your efficiency as you descend further.

The golems

Nefarok won’t sit idly by. As you dig deeper, he will send waves of golems to stop your progress. These enemies become more aggressive as you reach lower layers.

Some golems are flying units, hovering above your platform and sometimes harder to hit.

But don’t panic. Your tools, especially the Axe, have a specific reach distance. This value is displayed in the interface (for example: "+3 meters") and allows you to strike airborne enemies without needing to jump.

First machines and Energies

Once the recipe becomes available, you’ll be able to craft your very first machine: the PafferBreaker. It allows you to mine blocks on the platform automatically.

Machines won’t work on their ownn, they need energy to run. That’s where your power system comes into play.

At the heart of your setup lies the Generator, installed near your central platform.

But it won’t work right away: to activate it, you’ll need to attach a Power Node. Simply place it directly above or below the Generator. Then activate it by getting into the Generator control panel (press F) and click on Top or Down (depending where you have installed the Power Node).

You can check if the Power Node is active at the bottom (one Node should be green).

🔸 Where to find the Power Node?

You’ll unlock it once you reach the layer 2 of the island. Place it above or below the ForgeCore to supply it with energy.

Once powered, your next step is to distribute that energy. To do this, you’ll need to craft a Power Hub (2 Iron + 2 Copper). This Hub must be physically connected to the Generator to relay the energy to nearby machines. You can also use Connectors (available on Layer 4) to create a more complex circuit.

With Connectors

When the setup is complete, a glowing energy dome will appear, showing the range of your power system. Any machine inside this dome will automatically receive the energy it needs to function.

Tip: Make sure your machines are placed within the dome. If they’re outside, they won’t receive power!

Tip 2: Beware of the Golems! They'll try to destroy your installations!

What’s next?

Now that you know the basics, your mission is clear: keep digging, expand your setup with new machines, defend yourself from golem waves, and uncover the ancient secrets buried beneath the island.

Each expedition you undertake is also what we call a score run. Once Nefarok is defeated, you’ll be shown a detailed summary of your performance: total time, blocks broken, gold collected, enemies defeated, and more.

Your final score gives you a way to measure your efficiency and improve on your next run. Try new strategies, adjust your build, and challenge yourself to go deeper, faster, and smarter.
