beyond.frontiers changes
Welcome to patch 0.4.2b1!
ETA: Today, 29th Nov 2024
This update focuses on refining the game’s core mechanics, streamlining the economy for better player accessibility, and unleashing the full range of ships and equipment to expand your options as a privateer. Alongside these changes, we’ve made adjustments to starter systems, added hundreds of new rumors to immerse you in the universe, and scaled up key capital ships to give them the gravitas they deserve. Dive into the details below and explore the changes that will shape your journey in the stars!
New Features
Condensed Economy
After reviewing extensive feedback and gameplay footage, we've simplified the early-game economy: Individual ore processing stations have been merged into two categories:
Metal Refinery: Processes Iron, Copper, and Gold.
Advanced Refinery: Handles Silicone and Uranium.
Aside that, we did a major overhaul to the economy:
Ice Directly Sold to Food Processors and the Station is moved to Tier 1.
- Tier 2 Station ReductionTier 2 production chains reduced from 9 stations to 5.
Tier 3 Stations have been completely removed.
This change aims to streamline resource flow and make the economy more intuitive for newer players.
Expanded Equipment and Ship Availability
The entire ship roster is now accessible to players, including: Trade ships from the compact Demeter to the massive Atlas. Miners like the Keon and Gaius. Fighters such as the Starlite and Fury Heavy. Many stations will now offer limited stock of certain ships, so share your discoveries in the forums or Discord.
New Equipment Added
A wider variety of Weapons, Thrusters, Shields, and Utility modules are now available. Expect minor nerfs to older gear to encourage the hunt for optimized builds.
GenAI Disabled by Default
Character Images are now disabled by default. You can re-enable them in the Options menu (this must be done every game start). This is a temporary measure until real images can be added.
Changes
Capital Ship Scaling
The Crusader, Khyber, and Evoke have received size adjustments for greater visual impact and functionality:
Crusader: Scaled up by 150%.
Khyber and Evoke: Scaled up by 200%.
Sector Updates
Additional content has been added to certain sectors for a richer exploration experience.
Starter System Rework
Each starter system now features a Food Processing Plant and an Ice Belt. This allows players to mine, trade, or fight immediately after completing the tutorial without needing to search for buyers or resources.
Added 400 New Rumors
A mix of true, false, and neutral rumors to further immerse players in the universe.
Game Internal Screenshot Key Removed
Removed the internal screenshot key to avoid confusion with Steam Screenshot Function.
Fixes
Reputation Calculation Bug
Fixed an issue where faction reputation was calculated incorrectly if the player was not directly involved in events.
Neutral Space Reputation
Removed unintended faction reputation changes when the player is in neutral space.
This update brings a major overhaul to the economy, expands ship and equipment access, and introduces a host of quality-of-life improvements. Happy piloting, and as always, your feedback is invaluable! 🚀
