Besmirch is out now!

I'm excited to show you all what I have been working on over the past couple months!

There are lots of wild new characters and plenty of content.

I'll make sure to break everything down here so that you know what to expect when playing this beautifully strange concoction of a game.

What to do in Besmirch Early Access:

  1. Farm!

  2. Get Scared! At least a little I hope!

  3. Fully playable Autumn season.

  4. Fully playable Winter season.

  5. Summer and Spring are playable, but unfinished.

  6. Storyline currently ends in winter, but more to come that should extend multiple years I hope!

  7. Talk to town folk.

  8. Gain new armor/weapons to customize your character.

  9. Decorate your home with new furniture. More to come!

  10. Cook!

  11. Pay Taxes!

  12. Usury and gossip!

  13. Perpetual years. (In theory, I guess I haven't played it for all eternity, so you might meet the end of game before end of time. We'll need to get some scientists/mathematicians on this question)

  14. Mansion Bosses and "Early Access" boss fight.

  15. Sewer Dungeon.

  16. Mansion Dungeon.

  17. 4 Caves.

  18. Golgotha cave optional boss.

  19. Blacksmith

  20. Take charge of the town, repair it from destruction!

  21. Fall Festival. (Beet Festival, first Saturday)

  22. Three Days of Darkness every month (theoretically as stated before).

  23. Wait until midnight and get killed by wolves.

  24. Find a really hidden weird rabbit guy that I hope no one ever sees.

  25. Oh and brave snowmen that are self-sacrificial!

Expected playtime:

It's hard to get an exact estimate as everyone plays differently. I've noticed 3 different types of players so far:

  1. Quick play throughs: Speed run through content/Days and just gather bare minimum. 6 hours of playtime.

  2. Slow play throughs: Take attention to detail and try to make the most of each day. About 2 hours per in-game week. In total about 12 hours of content.

  3. Normal play throughs: Some days are quicker, some are slower. After averaging all the days out, I'd say about 9 hours of content.

What's coming soon:

  1. Fishing.

  2. More Summer and Spring content/visuals/music/etc.

  3. More mansion bosses

  4. More story that extends past winter.

  5. A lot. Like a lot.

  6. Whatever you feel this games need.

About me, Gangrue

Besmirch is entirely made by me. I have had lots of help from friends and family along the way.

However, this truly is an indie developer game.

Music, art, code, story, etc has been painstakingly handcrafted by me.

My brother helps with writing music, my close childhood friend pitches in with code and my wife does a bit of art/code/etc (she chose the color palette which I think really stands out too!). However, the overwhelming majority of what you see is my art. Especially the weird stuff.

I grew up coding since I was an adolescent and it has been my number 1 hobby ever since (not saying I'm a good programmer, just have been well seasoned lol).

I attended piano lessons since I was like 6 years old.

Plus the truly ridiculous levels of snow come from my own personal experience of being from the upper Midwest (Minnesota/Wisconsin specifically). It's cold. Real cold.

Finally,

Thank you all for getting this game so far! I really love working on this project and I want to make it as wild as you possibly can imagine.

If you find any issues/bugs or have suggestions that would make it a better experience I will work as quick as possible to make this thing up to your expectations. If some new feature comes to mind, let's talk about it and figure out the best
