It's been a while since my last update! The very first in-person exhibition kicked off a few weeks ago giving the public a first chance to play the game and lots of good came of it.
Split-screen VS: During my exhibition of Bash Moto many players expressed a desire for multi-player. I'm happy to announce local split-screen will be featured. It's still in development, but I have a majority of it working and I will post some videos on my social media in the coming week or so.
For those wondering about online, there's good news and bad news. The bad news is that I have no networking experience so a traditional online mode won't happen. The good news, Steam permits you to share a local play session with a Friend, meaning it should be possible to play an split-screen online through Steam. I still need to test it, but I'm rather confident it will work.
- StabilityBash Moto was subjected to a constant flow of players trying the game on a Steam Deck and Laptop for two days and not once did the game crash. A few new bugs were uncovered but a very good performance report card.
Pick up and Play: A majority of players seemed comfortable with the racing on rails guided steering, reminiscent of Road Rash, however there were some that felt it was a bit too overpowering. To my amaze I had a good number of children ranging somewhere from 5-12 playing the game and handled the controls surprisingly well. In fact they were my repeat customers, so Bash Moto is very much accessible for both young and old.
Performance PC: The game is optimized enough to run at 60FPS on a Nvidia RTX 2060. If you intend to play split screen I recommend a more modern video card because split screen = 2 cameras and basically doubles the rendering cost.
Performance Steamdeck: Single player maintains a 60FPS at the native 1280 × 800. You can bump that up to 1920 x 1080 but you may encounter some slowdown in the menus and occasional stutter during race, so recommended to stick the the native 1280 x 800.
Licensed Music: Much like road rash, the menus will feature licensed music from some quality alt-rock, grunge bands to help capture that 90s vibe. There will be an option to turn off the copyrighted music for those wanting to stream or record content.
The game is in a pretty good spot. I still have lots more to make such as new levels and bikes, but things are progressing. The steam demo is planned for later this year, ideally a few months prior to release.
