Avant-Garde: Napoleonic Battles changes
Game Development Roadmap
Here is the roadmap for the development of Avant-Garde: Napoleonic Battles. It is divided into 5 major milestones of increasing importance. Of course, this roadmap is subject to change, but my goal remains to adhere to it as closely as possible.
The Milestones
Let me explain the notable implementations of each milestone. Alpha (May 2026):
This stage has already passed; only members of the Old Guard currently have access to the game's Alpha builds. To learn how to join the Old Guard and its benefits, join the Discord server.
Here is, roughly, the content added or improved since the prototype:
Authentic terrain of the Battle of Rivoli
Music implemented
More complete and totally reworked tutorial
First stable version since the prototype
Beta (July 2026):
This is the next milestone, which will be here soon enough. The content is starting to resemble the Demo.
Here is, roughly, the content that will be added or improved since the Alpha:
Sound effects
Battle preparation scene
Pre-battle historical context
Post-battle results
Post-battle historical context
Demo (10/2026):
The demo will be public and open to everyone. The historical Battle of Rivoli will be authentically represented, both visually and through its events. Updates following the demo's release will aim to improve the gameplay experience and continue to incorporate player feedback.
Here is, roughly, the content that will be added or improved since the Beta:
Historically authentic events
Reworked units (mechanically and visually)
Refined tutorial
Improved AI
Early Access (Q1 2027):
Early Access will see the implementation of several additional battles. The goal is to continue improving the game based on your feedback while continuing to create historically authentic battles in which you can test your skills against history.
Here is, roughly, the content that will be added or improved since the Demo:
2 to 3 additional historical battles
Improved and reworked AI
Ability to choose your side during battle
1.0 (Q3 2027):
That's it, version 1.0 will be ready and the game will be released. The goal will be to include 8 to 12 historical battles. The game will be in its most stable version.
Here is, roughly, the content that will be added or improved since the Early Access:
8 to 12 historical battles (in total)
Improved AI
Edit mode: ability to modify your army (add or remove units)
Viewer mode: ability to passively watch the historical battle unfold
Final Notes:
Of course, between each milestone, I'll be gradually releasing fixes and improvements in the form of updates. In fact, Old Guard members will receive these updates before everyone else.
No matter when you play Avant-Garde: Napoleonic Battles, the important thing is to share your comments and feedback with me to help me improve the game!
As you can see, I have a lot on my plate for the next few months! So, I'm going back to work on developing the Beta version!
Take care!
