Astrolite changes
Christmas is here and so is a major Astrolite update!
Definitely Real Play-tester: "Please sir.. do not bore me with riff-raff, tell me what is new and interesting!"
Cool Stuff:
COMPLETE Upgrade Overhaul
Weapons and Passives (unless overwise stated) have UNLIMITED UPGRADES! * Insert unlimited power Starwars reference here *
WEAPON Obtainment
Weapons are now obtained from Headhunters which spawn at 1:00 on each planet! Headhunters drop weapon tokens which automatically move towards you when dropped.
NEW World Guardian
Ouranos, the Guardian of Uranus makes its debut! Built around wind-styled combat, Ouranos will throw your bullets for a loop.
NEW Weapons and Weapon Reworks
Old weapons which have been reworked:
Spray (Fighter) - Now fires in 3 round-burst fire with extra pierce, extra projectiles are added to EACH burst! (Projectile upgrades are 3x as powerful)
Bomb (Fighter) - Now EXPLODES! Big AoE ring damage that can hit AS MANY OPPONENTS AS CAN FIT!
Scatter (Fighter) - Now acts as a friggin MINIGUN.. that overheats! Use the spool-up time to pick the strongest target!
Needle (Chemist) - Fires single file bullets in a series for however many projectiles Needle has!
Leech (Vampire) - Shoots an array of bullets that very briefly follow the cursor, forming a nice pattern.
Drone (Mage) - No longer pursues enemies and shoot towards them. Drone now spawns in a perfect orbit around Mage and shoots towards the cursor, you can have multiple orbiting you at once. Explodes in a 360 spread of bullets on expiration.
New weapons that have been added:
Burst (Chemist) - Similarly to the bomb, but without explosions and instead shards detonating in all direction. So.. like the old bomb!
Pelt (Chemist) - Shoots a spray of fork-looking bullets! Random amounts come out, Base Projectiles + 1-3!
Harvest (Vampire) - Plants detonating curses amongst random enemies within view, which explode in an AoE and release vampire orbs for you to collect and heal from!
Drain (Vampire) - Hexes an enemy closest to your cursor, constantly doing single target damage over time until they die, hits release vampire orbs!
Arc (Mage) - Shoots a perfect arc of energy towards your cursor. Arcs can stack with one another, boosting their damage and size by sacrificing the weaker arc. How big can you get it?
LOOPING Gameplay and Randomized Guardians
Now, when reaching a planet that does not have a Guardian currently developed, it will select randomly from Hades, Poseidon, and Ouranos! The transition scene will also be randomized.
Some more important notes:
Guardians gain health dependent on the amount of planets you've traversed.
Looping occurs when conquering the Sun, at the moment this is automatic.
NEAR-MISS Mechanic
When flying past bullets, you will build your near-miss multiplier, gaining 5% multiplicative damage for each bullet grazed past. At 100% you become "On Fire" and leave an immensely nice-to-look-at fire visual behind your thrusters. Getting hit resets this modifier! Good luck o7
CHEMIST Power Rework
Shatter has been reworked to now cause ALL embedded shards in enemies to EXPLODE in a large AoE radius, this now allows Chemist, who was primarily a single-target monster beforehand, to obliterate entire screens of enemies with good timing!
Less Cool Stuff:
HUD and Visuals Rework
The HUD now has drastically improved visuals. Upgrade and Weapon Unlocks are now significantly beautified, many enemies and projectiles have had a visual uplift. Boulder has been visually improved. Guardians have been visually improved. Character's thrusters have had a visual uplift. Et Cetera.
TUTORIAL Rework
The tutorial now implements power-ups, and headhunters into the learning equation to teach about them.
NEW Enemy
The Omni-Luna has been added. It has a 1/100 chance to spawn in place of the other already-rare Lunas that spawn randomly whenever another enemy is spawned. If you can find it, you'll be in for an EXPLOSIVE surprise! (No spoilers here)
Fixes:
TIME for the boring fixes!
Stopwatch timer now runs exclusive to planets, which helps for timing events.
Pausing is no longer possible on weapon unlock. That caused a lot of issues...
Cursor lingering on Controller when using Death Blossom- Fixed!
Cursor no longer MIA when weapon unlock occurs.
Level Up and Weapon Unlocks no longer occur at the same time.
Pierce (should) be resolved to work correctly, and pierce the correct number of enemies.
World Guardian Phase Changes now correctly add a delay to attack patterns.
Ability and Power Text Popups and HUD display should now be correct.
LASTLY
Astrolite now has a google forms dedicated for thorough feedback gathering. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE use it to critically review the current state of Astrolite.
