We’re excited to share a closer look at the upcoming Base Building Update. This marks a major step forward toward our Early Access release, introducing the core systems that will let you build, expand, and manage your own Homestead in As One We Survive.
🏠 Claiming a Homestead
Begin by claiming a Homestead location to make your base. Each site includes passive stats like Security, Seclusion, Warmth, and Morale, which influence overall safety and comfort. These stats also affect the balance between theft risk and potential base raids at your chosen site.
🪚 Gathering and Scavenging
Use tools to break down debris piles for construction materials and scavenge the world for parts needed to build and upgrade facilities. Every resource you gather becomes part of your Homestead’s foundation.
🏗️ Constructing Facilities
Use your collected materials to build facilities in the available slots around your Homestead. Each one helps you live, find comfort, and create renewable resources —from beds for rest, workshops for repairs, and gardens for food, to distilleries for producing alcohol, or wood stoves for warmth. Facilities can be upgraded to improve efficiency and unlock new benefits.
⚒️ Using Facilities
Once built, interact with your facilities to sustain daily life. Collect water bottles from the rain catcher, sow seeds in the garden, process herbs into medical supplies, brew alcohol at the distillery, and repair weapons at the workshop. Each facility serves a clear role in keeping your Homestead supplied and running smoothly.
🔧 Improving the Homestead
Upgrade your base to enhance its passive stats like Security, Warmth, and Morale. Build barricades, reinforce doors, and install candle lighting or electricity to strengthen defenses and improve comfort. Every upgrade helps transform your Homestead into a safer, more resilient stronghold for survival.
📅 Development Outlook
The Base Building Update has proven to be one of the most ambitious milestones for As One We Survive, touching many of the game’s core systems. Alongside it, we’ve been improving several foundations to support what’s ahead:
💾 Save / Load System — saves when you sleep and continues as long as your character survives
🌐 Spawn Manager Overhaul — rebuilt for dynamic spawning, despawning, and future faction-based NPCs
🏃♂️ Auto-Run — a new quality-of-life feature for long-distance travel
📦 Item Pickup Notifications — clearer feedback for harvesting and looting
🎵 On the music side, we’ve been working with the talented Michael Baugh on the soundtrack. Here’s a small teaser of something really special we can’t wait to share with you soon.
We’ve also been making progress on a another feature planned for the Early Access release — the Character Select screen, which will let you choose and customize from a set of pre-built survivors.
With so many new systems coming together — and plenty of bug fixing and tuning along the way — we realized we need more time before As One We Survive is ready for Early Access. Rather than rush, we’re taking the extra time to make sure everything is stable, balanced, and true to the vision we’ve been building toward.
Because of that, we’re shifting the Early Access release window to Q2-Q3 2026. Thank you all for your patience and support — it truly means the world to us. There’s still a lot to come between now and then, including the Base Building Update, and we can’t wait to share more with you soon. ❤️ Jeff & CJ
