Major Updates | Character Rework Continued!
Input Actions Rework
UI Attachment Utility
New Movement Abilities
Minor Updates
Updated All UI to use new UI System and Input System.
Character Creation Improvements.
Major Update Summary
Beta input system that allows the player to define button actions. The system will be expanded to allow unique button mappings depending on the pickup item.
Player User Interfaces now have new attachment options beyond the default attachment to view direction. PUI can now also be attached to either hand or spawn detached. Further the PUI transform data and Arc angle can be adjusted.
Added Smooth Turning, Joystick Crouching, Jumping/Leaping, and upgraded Snap Turning. Movement settings can be adjusted in the Player UI Settings Page.
Minor Update Summary
The UI updates are minor only because they were a required side effect of the Input Actions Rework and the UI Attachment Utility. Twas a real pain in the tookas...
Added simple step by step instructions to the Character Selection page, Reordered Player Scale and VR Controller Offsets for a more intuitive creation order and added an Auto Calibration button for Player Scale.
Dev Note
-The character cleanup and rework continues and quality of life settings abound.
Shoutout to Taylor for requesting alternative user interface attachments. I still prefer the default view but can see the appeal of Hand attached UI and Detached UI. Additional shoutout to Taylor for requesting different bindings for UI interactions which eventually lead to me upgrading the input system. It took me a while to code it in since the request was made while I was working on the Open World Beta, but these are great reworks in line with the current Character Rework.
Shoutout to Draven X 23 for communicating that he had difficulty setting up his character. Details were vague, but the Character Creator has been put back on my list for further update. I plan to make a dedicated Character Creation Wizard for an easy step by step character setup in future patches. As a small hotfix I added a short step by step instructions list to the Character Selection Page and bumped Player Scale ahead of VR Controller Offsets in the settings page for what is hopefully a more intuitive Character Creation order. I also added an Auto Calibration suggestion for Player scale to give players a better starting point. It will be a while before a Wizard is prepared, but feel free to make requests and ask questions on the subject prior to the Wizard.
