changedClear water to you, travelers! Many people assume that because our game sits in a post-apocalyptic setting inspired by Mad Max and Fallout, it must be a desert world with no rivers or rain. But that’s not true. The world of Raiders World lacks not water itself, but clean water. Roughly 30 years ago, the Last War consumed old states, armies, and even a few spacecraft. Then came the Deliverers — alien benefactors (or invaders, depending on who you ask). Survivors were gathered into hive-cities, while the rest of the planet was reshaped by massive terraforming machines that altered the atmosphere and turned oceans into fuel. The planet changed. Heat rose. Rivers dried up or became toxic. Those outside the hives seemed doomed… but the Deliverers themselves soon fell into conflict. An orbital vessel lost power and turned several hive-cities into valleys of blue glass — one is still called the Mirror. Terraforming systems collapsed without maintenance. The Deliverers went silent, and the Barrens remained. Humanity survived. And continued to fight, trade, and feast among the ruins of a dead civilization. Clean water became rare and became both currency and necessity. Most water must be purified — untreated sources carry radiation, disease, or extreme salinity. That’s why the greeting in Raiders World is still: “Clear water to you, travelers!” War spoils and water are the two core resources. Spoils mean weapons, fuel, parts — water means literal survival. Bottles of clean water are currency, used for healing and recruiting companions.

Steam post image Rain is rare, seas have receded into the Big Salt where raider clans build their towers, and only a few artesian wells remain under gang control. There are rumors of a mountain wall hiding an entire lake of clean water… but no one knows if it’s real. In Armita’s Search, two major rivers flow through the region — Oiler and Stinker. Both are polluted; Oiler reflects light, while Stinker glows at night near the Mirror, home to giant jellyfish. Locals say: drinking from them means death. Even the night sky is strange here — no moon, only a planetary ring called the Arc. It reflects sunlight and lights the Barrens, occasionally breaking into meteor fragments, metallic snow, or acid rain. Tides are weak, almost irrelevant now. But old world traces remain — like a pre-war Waterworld poster, a reminder of another kind of apocalypse. If you want to explore our world, you can do it here:
