Arjybeasts Dev Log #3 - Setting Achievable Goals (SAG)

Currently the team is going through some growing pains as we didn't get the funding we needed for all team members to work full time on Arjybeasts. However, we are making an effort to work where we can and making sure we are Setting Achievable Goals (SAG) where possible.

SAG can be done in 2 ways:

1. Reduce the complexity and quality of the game to make the tasks achievable within a reasonable time frame, then ship the game sooner to make a quick buck.

2. Maintain the game's integrity but increase the length of the development cycles in an effort to maximise the final product... and profit.

We have decided as a team to SAG via the 2nd option. I think its important that we try our best to make a polished and complete product no matter how long it takes. To put this in perspective, here's some examples of how we are SAG-ing.

• Kristian has a task to complete the backend of the saving and loading system so that players don't lose their progress when closing the game. Now if I was giving him this task before, I'd expect it to take him a maximum of a week, but since I'm expecting him to be busy with job-searching and life, I will expect it to be done sometime inside of a month.

• Harry has the ongoing task to slowly improve the artwork for the game and draw new Arjybeasts with that fabulous brain of his. However he's currently working two jobs and he cannot do any work until he's allowed to leave one job at the end of the month.

• I (Sam) have the tasks to improve intuitiveness of the game and programming some moves and items but instead of that taking a couple days I'd expect it to take a couple weeks due to my fulltime job searching and part-time overwatch playing lol.

Basically, everyone's busy with life but we won't drop the quality of the project, it will just take some time to get the ball rolling.
