Apocalypse Island Out of Early Access!

We finally did it. After 4 months of Early Access and a total of 7 months of development, we are leaving Early Access and officially publishing Apocalypse Island.

addedLeaving Early Access does not mean that the game is closed. I will still fix bugs if anything comes out, but at least for a while I will not be working on any new big update or mechanic, I want to develop other games and work on other projects for now.

I am really happy with what this game is today, even if it is not perfect, far from it surely, but I did it so I couldn’t be more proud.

I hope you can enjoy the small game I did and let me know you did in some way. I accept every criticism and advice as I always did.

Maybe in the future, I’ll come back to Apocalypse Island with more knowledge and skill and I will happily release a random big update revolutionizing the game, but for now, that is not in my plans.

So, one more time, thank you everybody for supporting Apocalypse Island.

House building!

Finally added the structures and the mechanisms necessary for building houses in your survival experience!

Build your own house on the island to protect yourself from zombie and have a safe place to store items and weapons.

All structures added:

Floors (temporarily zombie cant walk on floors built by the player, this is hopefully going to get fixed soon but there were some problems so I decided to release the structures with this little bug),

Walls,

Walls with door,

Walls with window,

Left angled roof,

Right angled roof,

Middle roof,

Side roof,

2 sided roof,

3 sided roof,

Corridor roof,

Top roof.

These structures can all be crafted from the building panel in the House Buildings section.

Ending and Final Boss!

I obviously couldn’t leave Early Access without giving an ending to the game, with also a final boss and final cutscenes. Find out what happened with this final boss hidden in the depth of the island.

The game has 2 possible endings, the player can decide what to do as he gets to the end.

I don’t want to say too much about the boss to avoid spoiling, so you will have to find that out yourself.

Steam Achievements:

I also added 13 steam achievements, some about the story, some about other things you can do on the island.

General Fixes: 🛠️

Now rusted vehicles with lootables metal pipes have a column of black smoke coming out of them to recognize them.

Fixed the soda description which had a spelling error.

I removed the question marks from chests and containers while leaving them for more important objects like weapons or key items.

Fixed a bug that would allow hitting trees 2 times like if the player was comboing, making it too fast.

Fixed a bug that would set the player on fire when throwing a molotov.

Made UI in the placing structure panel res

ponsive to the set keys in the settings.

Now in the inventory and while looting chests the player can click on an item while carrying another item and they will switch, placing the carried item in the clicked slot and starting carrying the clicked item.

Now when opening a chest the player also sees the items in the hotbar.

Added a sound when the player is on fire.

The fuel bomb explosion time and radius were reduced a bit.

Fixed a bug that would make grenades, molotov and fuel bombs collide with the player/zombies while exploding.

Fixed the entrance of the gallery in the north side of the city.

Fixed a bug that would freeze the game when interacting with the button in the Zombarus Labs.

Updated the credits.

Fixed some spawn points for zombies on houses roofs and impossible places.

Fixed a bug that would let the player refill the canteen infinitely while refilling.

Fixed some tree colliders while falling.

Optimized some colliders and meshes in the world for better performances.

Fixed some holes in terrains around the map.
