addedIt’s update time for Animalkind! That’s right, we’ve got a good one in version 0.6.12. With this update we’re adding some great improvements and features to the game, giving our villagers more to do and addressing some issues we’ve seen with performance and finding codex fragments. As always, thank you for being part of the community and providing the feedback that helps us improve this game.

Performance Improvements

It’s important to us that the game runs as well as it can so we spent some time in the past couple of weeks working on performance. These improvements shouldn’t impact the player experience outside of improved utilization, frame rates, and stability.

New Feature: Villager Chatter

Our villagers will now proactively chatter as they go about their lives in your town. They will greet one another, react to things you are doing, and ponder whatever is on their mind. We hope you enjoy this addition to our villager behaviors!

New Feature: Villagers can now take a seat!

While we were adding chat bubbles and chat behaviors to our villagers, we also gave them the ability to sit down. If you place furniture like benches around the island, you should sometimes see them kick and relax on them.

New Feature: Codex Scanning

We’ve given each portal the ability to scan for codex fragments and pin a clue on your map. This should help you find those all-important fragments, even if they are hidden or tucked away outside of your sight line.

Smaller Updates

  • Reverted an unintended change preventing players from picking up multiple FLOOF codex fragments. Now you will be able to pick up multiple fragments and drop them appropriately.

  • Eliminated some unintended outlines on objects when in Design mode.

  • Addressed some meals not being shareable through the large campfire (e.g., berry skewers).

  • Fixed an issue with house ownership being reset in multiplayer worlds.

  • Made some text overlays more legible.

Thank you for playing Animalkind! Have a great week!
