changedHi everyone! As I mentioned last week, I would share the story of how this Quackette table is being made. We make plans to showcase at MAGFest every year, we love the event and it really is the best place we’ve found to share the games we make. For our submission this year, we are building a physical table to play one of the games from Always Bet on Quack. Think of those high end Dungeon and Dragons tables that have the screens in them. It's like that, but to play Quackette! It can seat up to four players and everyone has a dedicated quack button.
changedVan rentals would have been so expensive because of the distance, so the most reasonable option was to attach a hitch to the back of my car and load it into a trailer. Of course, when we went to order the hitch there wasn’t one for my car in any store between Rhode Island and West Virginia. So we had to wait for the part to be special ordered. The fun part was that once we had this thing, the only affordable way to get it installed was at Tyler’s dad’s mechanic shop which was two hours from West Virginia in Maryland.
changedI get down there, drive to Maryland, we find out the hitch that was ordered was for the sedan model, not my hatchback! So thankfully Tyler’s dad was able to order the right hitch locally for the next day. Did I mention all of this happened on Monday and I needed to be back in Rhode Island by 7 am Wednesday to teach a class? Fun times!
changedAnyway, we tried to make the best of that Monday trip and went down to Estarland, which is an absolutely incredible used game store. I got the PS1 copy of the X-Files game, complete! But of course, as we were driving home I was rear ended! Thank goodness we hadn’t hooked up the hitch, but also there wasn’t any serious damage so I said whatever and moved on.

So, where to even begin? Thankfully, our creative director, Tyler, is a former theatre kid! He went to college originally for theatre set design and is now able to use that with us. Tyler’s family is originally from West Virginia and invited him down to use their woodworking tools to build this thing from scratch. The original plan was for Tyler to build the whole thing in West Virginia, we’d drive it back to Rhode Island for local conventions and then drive it back down for MAGFest.

Nothing is ever that simple is it?

I really thought I’d get through this whole story in one post, but now you get to look forward to the exciting adventure of actually getting home!
