changedWhat is sandbox mode, and how is it different? This gamemode will allow you to create freely and test the limits of where your imagination can take you. Explore the range of different scenarios that are more unique than the last. With this tool, we also used to help create static scenario maps and then use the blueprints to create the procedural generation maps. As you keep reading our devlog, you’re going to learn more about this tool in even more detail.
changedWhat is sandbox mode, and how is it different?Sandbox mode will continue to improve, allowing you to define a whole scenario in a single place. With the tabs, you will be able to change which citizens you have in the current run, choose resources, and use the sandbox mode. You can also place random buildings that, when you play, become resource piles for you.
changedWhat is sandbox mode, and how is it different? There are a lot of additional buildings you wouldn't normally have in regular gameplay. Sandbox mode enables pre-apocalypse buildings that aren't built by the player. Their style is distinct and is aimed at representing the old world. As opposed to post-apocalypse buildings, which are more junk-looking. You have a lot of lore building to play with.
changedWhat is sandbox mode, and how is it different? We also have event buildings that look like the yellow boxes (we called loot boxes at one point). They have pre-defined event sets on them that pick even at random. What a map maker can do is replace those events with your own selection from all possible events. Replacing regular box events with something like Rogue Trader or Crumbling Event might have some janky consequences, but that's on you to play around with.
changedWhat is sandbox mode, and how is it different? If you have any old demo saves that you’ve sunk hours into, you can use our sandbox mode to upgrade the old demo saves, as a lot will have changed between the demo and full release!
changedWhat is sandbox mode, and how is it different? The physics have been improved so that could now make the old cities that you worked so hard to build crumble. So fix up your old saves, and if you have anything you want to share, upload them to the Steam workshop!

Let’s talk about sandbox mode. This is going to be a long one, so grab some hydration and get ready for an in-depth look at what to expect when we fully release ALL WILL FALL.

What is sandbox mode, and how is it different?

This gamemode will allow you to create freely and test the limits of where your imagination can take you. Explore the range of different scenarios that are more unique than the last. With this tool, we also used to help create static scenario maps and then use the blueprints to create the procedural generation maps. As you keep reading our devlog, you’re going to learn more about this tool in even more detail.

Sandbox mode will continue to improve, allowing you to define a whole scenario in a single place. With the tabs, you will be able to change which citizens you have in the current run, choose resources, and use the sandbox mode. You can also place random buildings that, when you play, become resource piles for you.

Another thing you can do is use the paint tool. Paint concrete yellow or even make it look like metal. You can also use nature theme blocks such as rocks, trees, and ore in sandbox mode.

If you have any old demo saves that you’ve sunk hours into, you can use our sandbox mode to upgrade the old demo saves, as a lot will have changed between the demo and full release!

The physics have been improved so that could now make the old cities that you worked so hard to build crumble. So fix up your old saves, and if you have anything you want to share, upload them to the Steam workshop!

How do you start using it?

The full game will have ‘Sandbox mode’, which will be available for everyone. Simply start your playthrough and toggle the mode whilst playing. Use it simply for creativity or to bypass some hardship you might have if you’re achievement hunting, make sure you don’t use it if you’re trying to 100% - no easy 100% completion here!

A Sandbox level will be a separate quick play you can access from the main menu. If you don’t want to do survival, normal mode, you use this instead.

Creating maps and scenarios

We’ve set up a checklist of items that can help make sure your maps are ‘developer-approved’ when creating proper scenarios; this isn’t a mandatory checklist, and creators are free to ignore it as long as the scenario can be run properly. Make sure you have resources and a good number of citizens; it should run smoothly, no matter what you add, and other requirements aren’t strictly necessary. We’ve opened it up to
